Oh sorry, just saw Jeff Green on that injury list and then remembered why he is unavailable.I'm pretty sure Green is playing. He went through practice and said he'd be playing. I just included him on the injured list because, well, he is injured. But he also plans on playing.
Nets gave Sully a rookies welcome to the NBA last time I bet he doesn't forget it.I'd like to see Sully kept to Humphries / R.Evans.
So NBA League Pass is offering this game's stream for free ;DThis can't be the U.S right?
Great stuff, 8)
i expect Bass to be Thumpin!!

I don't want to see him on B.Lopez or A.Blatche. Or Gerald Wallace if Wallace is being played as a quick four (power forward).
Doc needs to protect Sully, matchup wise. And combination wise (no Bass/Sully big man combo).
Bar Fight... Christmas rumble.
I don't think these two teams are going to be giving gifts.
Unless it is a mouth full of loose teeth or black eye as present. ;D
Once again, Doc's failure in insisting in starting Terry against big guards.
Question, how is something a no-call when someone passes the ball before running through a defender? How does that change things at all? Running through a defender, with or without ball is illegal contact, right?
Those two fouls on Collins seemed kind of bad..put in the d-league guy
A ref in my rec league once called that, said my screen didn't warrant a call because the guy passed the ball before he ran me over like a freight train.Question, how is something a no-call when someone passes the ball before running through a defender? Yeah, that made no sense. What I think is incorrectly called is when they run through a defender who hasn't been set. In those cases I'd say a no call or a defensive foul, same as if the player had the ball in his hands.

I told him "So, if I have the ball, as long as I pass it right before I hit the opponent, I run into him as hard as I can?" - he just stuttered and said "... ye ... yes?" :)A ref in my rec league once called that, said my screen didn't warrant a call because the guy passed the ball before he ran me over like a freight train.Question, how is something a no-call when someone passes the ball before running through a defender? Well you could have told him, the guy who ran you over actually set an illegal screen, so that warrants a call :P
Bass' shot has been too off for too long. How can his shot get better when we keep asking him to defend and rebound too? ;)

Its amazing how much Jeff Green can disappear from a ball game. You cancompletely forget he's on the court.
Oh hello Jeff. He *is* around.
Sully is the most veteran looking rookie I've EVER seen.So true, however that makes me wonder if there's much room for improvement...
team plays so much better without Rondo. Seriously f we can get a good big and a serviceable PG for him, I'd pull.
Green needs to give up the Worthy moves. They don't work.
I don't see why not. He's calculated, not limited.Sully is the most veteran looking rookie I've EVER seen.So true, however that makes me wonder if there's much room for improvement...

I LOVE Sullys game..that kid is battling and fighting with three or four thugs . He has the heart of a Lion.

He's not fitting well with our roster though particularly because of Bass. We get rid of Bass for a bigger PF/C type, and everyone should fit well. Else, just play Wilcox over Bass more (when healthy).
This team is built to run, and fast pace. We struggle in the half-court offense, Rondo needs to recognize.

::) you do realize Rondo's been a one-man fastbreak for the past 5 years, right? Let him play less with the 35+ guys (Paul, KG, JET, Collins) and more with the youngins. I always said if you free Rondo from playing rec ball at the retirement home, we'd see his best basketball.
Gotta double the post when Terry is stuck on G-Wallace in the post.

That's completely inaccurate. Rondo doesn't like to run, or at least, it's difficult for him to run. In fact, a couple of years ago he admitted to himself that he needs to force himself to run. Doc is constantly calling for him to push the ball. Garnett is old? He's still one of the most mobile bigs in the league who constantly out runs other bigs. We have Pierce who has power and and great for a trailer 3. Bass is mobile too.
There's no excuse for Rondo not to be pushing the ball. Sorry, but it's just flat out wrong for him to walk the ball up regardless who he's playing with. The worst that can happen is that we start our offense early.

And we just get a perfect example of Rondo running the floor BY HIMSELF in transition.
im wettin my pants over how well this team is playing today. That or the 5 glasses of Egg nog Ive had ;DNo egg nog here, but I've got some Jameson - just as giddy!
Sully for MVP.THIS.
all the ball movement means rondo only has 3 assists so far.Plus a couple of hockey ones, and some misses by Terry.
Loving Sully today. EARNING his minutes.
Doc, START SULLY!!!
Gee Doc ...WHAT do KNOW????? Playing Big ... looks good to me and rebounds DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!Let's not complain when something's done right :p
Gee Doc ...WHAT do KNOW????? Playing Big ... looks good to me and rebounds DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!I think Doc has seen the light.
Jason Collins hasn't looked this good since his Nets days. Dude is ripped.
Hopefully Danny too.Gee Doc ...WHAT do KNOW????? Playing Big ... looks good to me and rebounds DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!I think Doc has seen the light.
come on paul!

How much of Bass' trade value dropped this season?Let's just say his trade value is another brick in the wall he's building on-court.
Hey, PF > Guard ;)Hopefully Danny too.Gee Doc ...WHAT do KNOW????? Playing Big ... looks good to me and rebounds DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!I think Doc has seen the light.
Apparently not. Celtics signed another power forward.
Jason Collins hasn't looked this good since his Nets days. Dude is ripped.
Yep, he came in great shape this year. Loved the pick-up, hated how lost he's looked so far in defense, but looks to finding it now with repetitions.
deron's tattoos are uglyInk... blotches.
Pretty good first half. I half expect the lead to slip away in the 3rd though.Boy how I wish you weren't right.
Gee Doc ...WHAT do KNOW????? Playing Big ... looks good to me and rebounds DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!Let's not complain when something's done right :p
Be happy! :D
(just my opinion ;))
I knew I just knew they would a 20 point lead like it was nothing in the third quarter. We're one ridiculous miracle 3 by the Nets away from being 18 points up.
Had me all happy and my hopes up for a blowout win all for nothing.
What other coach is going to let his team blow a 20 pt lead without a timeout?
Bass has gotten worse.Real Sad. But unfortunately true. He is timid on offense when he has the ball, does not seem to understand the offensive sets, and is always at least 1 step too slow on defensive rotations. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, trade Bass with Lee (after AB returns).
why is he grabbin KG's shorts? what a loser.
That should be a tech on Wallace. Very blatantly instigating a conflict.
Someone needs to teach Jeff green how to box out.TP
Wallace is such apunk.wannabe.
"I think KG was just objecting to the length of time he was holding on to his shorts."
anyone see wallace cover the camera with his hand? THUGDidn't see it. Someone's hand was blocking my view.
Sully showcasing out there i love it. Most teams would want a young guy like sully on their team.
rondo only has 4 assists. lol
rondo only has 4 assists. lol
you know how some guys have good but not great talent, but they have so many intangible strengths they bring - Jeff Green is the exact opposite. he has superior raw talent with ZERO intangibles and very low "basketball IQ"Sully is one of those first guys.

Sully showcasing out there i love it. Most teams would want a young guy like sully on their team.
Why in the hell would we want to "showcase" him?? We NEED him - he's the best rebounder on this team. Why the desire to ship him out.
We need to rid ourselves of the worthless Bass and the useless Lee - THOSE are the two guys that are dead weight on this team.
You're listening to that idiot Bill Simmons ramble too much...

First of all i agree with everything you said except the fact we NEED sully. Hes a rookie that in all likely hood won't see as much time once the playoffs start. That being said id rather get rid of bass over sully. Problem is most teams would prefer sully. The guys i would trade sully for are all upgrades over him.

Sully's contract is cost efficient. A team with CAP issues like the Celtics NEED a contract like that. High efficiency at low cost = bargain. Sully's a bargain - you don't hand those away.
Lazy passes right there. Garnett wasn't even paying attention to the ball.

We are in win NOW mode. We have to make a trade. We are not winning a championship with collins at center buddy. And good luck getting a quality center/PF without giving up sully or bradley.

I disagree with Courtney Lee point. He has been a great addition to the team. Hopefully he finds his shot soon.
lightskinsmurf, glad you're not the gm, for real. Sully is a building block of the future. if a trade is going to happen, id rather it be bass and lee or fab melo

The return of Avery Bradley renders Lee useless on this roster. He will sit... He could be moved.
The lead is dropping. Need to be careful here.
They could make this a very difficult final few minutes if they aren't careful.

C's better wake up - Wallace going into "Lebron Mode" right now... And we're not matching his intensity.This. They better watch it before they're up only 1 point and have to scramble for a win.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, BROOKLYN!!!
Psst. Doc. Put Jarvis in.
wallace driving on every play , looking to strip Pierce or KG every time down court.I can't stand him,but I have to give him some respect for being the only person on the team who's playing hard and is not giving up.
D-Will EXPOSED by Rondo. Showed him how a true superstar performs. Dude badly needs to meet a treadmill.
I don't mean to grinch but to me this was more of a Nets loss than a Celtic win. I'm really glad Sully and Green stepped up and scored a bit but I was looking at some of the numbers the Nets put up and I watched the 2nd half of the game. Every player except Gerald Wallace looked like they had just eaten Christmas dinner; sluggish, uninterested and generally out of sync.
I like the win, I'm not giving it back. I just think that the Nets are in a funk right now and we shouldn't hype the excellent play of our team over that win. Let's decisively beat the Knicks, the Heat or a Western conference team of worth before we start raising flags. So far we have a win against the Thunder and that is mostly it.
First of all i agree with everything you said except the fact we NEED sully. Hes a rookie that in all likely hood won't see as much time once the playoffs start.
I think Bass is as good as gone to be honest. There are too many signs to ignore:You realize that we didn't have 12 men to put in uniform on this trip, and that we're down to three healthy big men not named Kevin Garnett, right?
1. Bass' drop from the starting lineup
2. Bass' drop in minutes (less than 20 today)
3. Recent signing of a seemingly redundant power forward
wow. where did that team in green come from today? It was as if doc rivers read every post of mine on here and did exactly as I said. attack the basket the whole game. we did that basically. we ran at times after defensive rebounds. fantastic! easy buckets in transition. the D speaks for itself. holding a team under 80? impressive. we did not settle for contested jumpers once we had the big lead. wide open jumpers are fine(as long as we keep attacking the basket also and we did)...just not contested. anybody can shoot contested jumpers.
some nice passes to sully in the paint for easy scores. we'll still need a big guy to go deep in the playoffs even once AB comes back. sully, terry and wilcox and collins should give us a decent bench though compared to last year. get a starter at center and keep KG at the 4 spot. Trade green, bass, lee, barbosa, etc.

I don't think Varnado will see much time. But we had a roster spot and needed some insurance, so there you go. He may well be gone in 10 days -- or they send him to Maine. Of course he can always end up being a gem in the rough, but I don't think the move is signalling anything about Bass' status with the team.I think Bass is as good as gone to be honest. I agree 100% with your post. With no Wilcox, we are desperately thin at PF/C. I mean, no offense against collins, but he should be at best a break open in an emergency kind of guy. I guess we are at that point already. C's just need another big warm body.
Even though I loved our effort and D today, we were still forced to play the dreaded Sully and Bass combination for short stretches today. Great win though. I wish we could at least get that effort from everyone every game, even if we don't get the results we want.
I'm also getting very sick of watching terry. if i had to pick lee or terry I would def. pick lee. coming into the season, I would have never have thought I'd feel like that. lots of changing opinions for me. a side note if I were a brooklyn fan I would be tired of see sermon Williams sour puss.

Who just loved Pierce egging on the Brooklyn crowd and flashing his Boston jersey at them?
classic Truth getting that swagger back
here's hoping it's a sign of things to come -- as in, the C's have FINALLY turned the corner on putting forth a solid effort EVERY night through the rest of the season.Who just loved Pierce egging on the Brooklyn crowd and flashing his Boston jersey at them?

Yup...that was GREAT STUFF !!! Me and the wife got a kick out of that bit of showmanship.
I'm expecting or hoping for more antics from Pierce , it means he is feeling good .
Maybe its a sign of good things to come.

We have Garnett and Collins who can play center and Bass, Sullinger and Green who can play PF.
So we are pretty much fine at PF, but we could use another center until Wilcox returns.
Rather than call up Fab Melo (a player who's main talents are shot blocking, taking charges and being a legit 7-foot center) from the D league purely as insurance, we instead signed yet another undersized 6'9" power forward who will probably get no playing time behind Green, Sullinger and Bass.
You can't make the argument that they signed him over Melo because they wanted a veteran because well...as far as I know this guy has never played an NBA game in his life.
So if Boston were so desperately in need of last resort insurance at the center spot, why waste a roster spot on a random PF from the D-League when you already have Fab Melo taking up a roster spot?
It makes no sense.
Collins is doing a perfectly fine job of backing up the center spot right now while KG is on the bench and he can handle that role just fine until Wilcox returns. We don't need a center to give us minutes, we only need one as a last resort backup in case (knock on wood) KG or Collins cannot play. There is no reason why Fab couldn't act as a 7-foot bench warmer and then come in for the occasional spot minute (like Hollins did last season) until Wilcox comes back, then they could send him back to the D-league again.
I'm telling you right now, if there is any trade happening it's going to involve Bass or Sullinger, and the only time it's going to be Sullinger is if nobody has an interest in Bass (which right now, I wouldn't blame them).
Just how long are Jarvis arms? :oHe's 6'10", if that, and has a 7'3" wingspan...so very long.
