Title: Bass and Lee for Landry and Biedrins
Post by: Smitty77 on December 22, 2012, 11:38:42 AM
I know.  Why would GS give up Landry who is a bargain??  To get rid of Biedrins' contract!!!  They might want Jason Collins in this deal and I would gladly give them that.

Biedrens has intrigued me for years.  He is a head case no doubt, but he once averaged about a double double for three straight years!!  He is ONLY 26!!  KG can get this kids head right and this would be a STEAL!!  He helps to solve our rebounding issues immediately.

Landry is a solid player that could immediately start for us or be our first big off the bench.

If GS wants Jeff Green, we can work that out too.

Thoughts??

I don't like C.Landry as a starter. He shares many of the same defensive and rebounding issues that Bass does. A much more effective player as the main big off the bench. One of the best in the league in that role.

Andris Biedrins wouldn't be able to crack our rotation. Too bad defensively. Signing free agent Chris Andersen would be a much better option.

I'd do it.

No doubt.

I don't think Golden State considers this.

I think from a financial perspective that Courtney Lee's (three and a half years) and Bass' (two and a half years) contracts are more concerning than the 18 months left on Biedrins deal.

It would hurt their rotation. Make them a worse a team.

I don't think there is a role available there for Courtney Lee. Their backcourt minutes go to Steph Curry (PG), Klay Thompson (SG) and Jarrett Jack (PG/SG). I don't think Courtney Lee can beat them out for significant minutes. He'd be a bit part player. And then they have Harrison Barnes, Brandon Rush (injured) and Richard Jefferson at the SF position. All those players can play SG minutes too if needed so there is even less need for Courtney Lee.

Brandon Bass (mostly a spot up shooter) is clearly a big downgrade from Carl Landry (low post scorer, strong shot creator, can run your 2nd unit offense through him).

I'm from the Bay and trust me, with what the media here and the fans say, they will not let go of Landry and Jack. They are really high on those two, especially Landry since Bogut hasn't got back yet. Him and David Lee compliments each other well.

Beans is just waiting for a taker, really. Dubs won't hesitate to pull a trade involving him.

I just said this on another thread. But just so I can put this in. I'll trade Jeff Green, Bass or Wilcox for Beans and DRAYMOND GREEN and Jeremy Tyler.

Tyler is a prospect. Beidrins is, well you know. Draymond Green on the other hand, boy I love this kid's game. We could really, REALLY use his energy, effort and extreme confidence. But we'd need to take on BEans contract for this to work, i think. And he's servicable, had a solid game last night. He'll have a few here and there in Boston, maybe... BUT GIVE ME DRAYMOND GREEN!

Yoki,

Thanks for the input from the Bay!!:-))  OK, Landry is off the table.  I always loved the energy Draymond played with at Mich. State!!  I wanted us to take Tyler in that draft as well.  Good upside.

I do think we should sign Chris "Birdman" Andersen IF he has been cleared on those child **** charges.  Does anyone know about that??

Who,

You sort of supported my trade idea.  You mentioned Curry and Jack, but they are BOTH more PG as you indicated in your post.  Outside of Clay, what SG do they have??  I live 2 hours from Chapel Hill and have a daughter that is a junior at UNC, and Harrison is NOT a SG (as you mentioned) and will likely never develop the handle to play that position.  Jefferson at his age is too slow to guard most decent twos and I believe Rush is a SF too.  They really need a backup SG IMHO!!

I was NOT making the argument that Bass is not a downgrade from Landry.  But, we would be taking an onerous contract off of GS's books in Biedriens.
