I imagine it would a timezone where the Mayans lived.
-
The date the mayans predicted has already come and gone and nothing happened. The Mayans didnt have leap years.
-
They could not even predict their own demise, why place faith in any of their predictions?
Silly, stuff and you can bet people are making money over this hand and foot. Books, bullets, survival gear sales are way up not to mention guns.

You guys still okay there right? Coz I have a package sent there and I wanna make sure Philippines still exist knowing that it's the 21st over there already. I don't want the hassle of returned packages. LOL
Nice to see a fellow Filipino Celtics fan in the forums. I give you your first Tommy Point, kabayan.

I like this too.
I've been asking the question for awhile now as to which timezone this would supposedly be based on and exactly what time in that time zone. Who says it has to be midnight?
sadly, I have a relative who's looking forward to the ensuing 'rapture' being predicted here and I'm just feeling a tad smug that he's going to have to make some accommodations for living past that date

If anybody has any houses to sell to me for $100 for the world about to end, please contact me

Ha, true that.

Too bad the Mayans never predicted that and 2012 isn't even close to the end of a long year.
And it wasn't their solar calendar so leap years are irrelevant.

I have no idea if this is accurate, but I still found it interesting and it certainly seems plausible.
According to the article the last time the Mayan Calendar flipped (or predicted the end of the world apparently) was September 18, 1618 (clearly the world did not end then).

see the article I posted. leap years have nothing to do with the calendar ending. It is total days, which no matter how you work it out equates to December 21, 2012. It has nothing to do with years, leap years, or anything of the sort.
-
It hasn't ended in Australia. Yay
-
Weren't the Mayans the same people who thought that human sacrifice was a good idea?
Yes, they were.
Then why do we make such a huge deal about their ridiculous prediction of the world ending on a certain date? They certainly weren't the smartest or most educated or most informed people on Earth if they couldn't survive and thought killing each other was a good idea to appease their Gods.
-
So I tell my wife ...look baby, the world is ending ... she says it don't confront her none . I still gots to cook dinner tonight :(

Hey all. Posting this from the future, aka Australia. We're closing on halfway through the dreaded Apocalypse here, 10:30am.
Not much fire, or brimstone. It's nice 'n warm though. Might have to hop into the pool later.

Wow, wait, what? You still in one piece? How'd it happen?

Buhay pa naman kami rito.. December 21 has so far been another boring day.. But it's still early in the morning, maybe there'll be some 'fireworks' later.. But I'm hoping Banner#18 comes before the doomsday!
Mabuhay ang Celtics! :)

I woke up, needed to go to work so I hea to the showers only to realize I'm out of soap... After that, some of the toppings of the leftover pizza I'm suppose to eat fell on the floor... Lastly, I forgot my utility knife at home...

My wife worked in Guatemala at a Mayan village a few years ago. She asked about the whole apocalypse thing and they had no idea about it. The funny thing is after the movie 2012 came out, thats when they asked her about this whole thing.
Basically, the outside world are the ones that make a big deal out of it and the Mayans end up believing it.
Also, saw a political cartoon that had something along the lines of
Priest Assistant"hey Priest, it looks like that our calendar ends on 2012. What should we do about that?"
Priest "Don't worry, by then it'll be Obama's fault."

I don't get why people are doggin the Myans (even their beliefs that were ABSURD), they NEVER said the world was going to end! "People" (you know WHO I'm talking about, I'm not getting banned) are the ones who put 2+2 together and got 5. Actually, they put 2+X together and assumed it was the end of the world.
Quite a few people got rich this year off of this... I wish I had started a prepper store...

Well, we are still here!
I would present that a lot of belief systems are absurd when under the microscope. I can ridicule all of them on some level. I think the most intriguing thing about the Mayans is that they had a big urban and obvious civic minded style with advanced architecture and decided to give it up and move into the jungle and go back to nature. That is fascinating to me, I know scientists speculate a drought or what not. But one would a society that advanced could do aqueducts.
I think their was big money made off these crisises. I think people are obsessed with apocalypses. Just ask Tim LaHaye if this stuff sells. Books, guns, survival equipment and food all sell well in these times. A fool and their money are soon parted I guess.
The really ridiculous part is that the other half of the world already went through this yesterday. They made it.

Well technically the Mayans predicted it would end at 11:11 their time, which would be 6:11 AM EST. ;)

how are the Mayans 5 hours ahead of EST? if anything, I'd think they were 1-2 hours behind.

Well, if this is the afterlife then I must've been a particularly bad human being .. it looks a lot like my office!

Never fear. The Congress of the United States, in a spirit of generosity, brotherhood and bipartisanship, are feverishly working together to prevent the apocalypse.
