Title: NOH & BOS Get Er done on the Dec. 16
Post by: Rtpas11 on November 28, 2012, 05:51:25 AM
Boston Gets: Ryan Anderson & Jason Smith

New Orleans Gets: Jeff Green, Fab Melo, Collins & 1st Rd. Draft Pick

I approve this trade because of Kris Joseph promising upside. I think he is our next superstar Paul Pierce. He needs time to shine, & with Jeff Green clogging his minutes he won't. Its better to trade Jeff, where there's less pressure on him to do extremely well.

Im not really quite on board with the Green/Anderson trade. Im sure there are some positives in there but I think Jeff's defense would be very useful over Ryan's shooting.

With that said. Fab and/or Collins + 1st for Jason Smith...?

So we would have no back up for Pierce but Bass,Sully,Wilcox,KG,Anderson, and Smith all fighting for big man minutes?

No thanks.

I think a trade offering Bass (who is from Louisiana and went to LSU) instead of Green makes more sense.  Of course, you also have to add salary.

Greens defense is so below average I have a hard time seeing it even being that much superior in anyway to Anderson's while Anderson's shooting is clearly superior. If it were possible I for one would swap those players.

Anderson can only play PF, a position of depth for us, where Green can play SF a position of need. No thanks.

Bass and Lee + Melo OR a 1st rounder for Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith????

Noooo... lol it's really

Ryan for Jeff & 1st

Jason for Fab & Collins

Ryan Anderson isn't good enough to net you a 1st plus a borderline starter or important bench player.

And apart from cash reasons, Jason Smith doesn't worth giving up two bigs, either.

I would have no problems trading Bass, Sullinger, Lee, and a 1st for Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith.

Fact: outside of getting rid of one of the league's other worst contracts, no team is trading for Jeff Green.

No.

Sadly, I don't see it. Soon to be 24 year old rookie 2nd rd draft picks don't often materialize into superstars. He has a good chance of being the next Rasual Butler though.

Bass+Lee for Anderson+Smith would work. And at the point we could trade both of them, Bradley would be back and Lee is looking more and more like the odd man out (Barbosa has been lights out)

Bad Trade for the Celtics. Everyone that is bagging on Jeff Green is gonna eat their words.

Not really, you get a proven player in Anderson who can stretch the floor and can actually put the ball in the basket, unlike Green. The amount of emotional investment some of you guys on these boards have to these underwhelming players is just  ::). You need to be callous at times to succeed as a GM in this league, you can't be so emotionally attached non-stop.

Green plays better defense than Anderson. Sure, Jeff is really struggling right now, but we will new his defense come playoff  time.

Besides it'll take more than those to land Anderson.

the only way we trade green is if we take back an even worse contract( um tyrus thomas?) bcoz for other teams it makes no sense. maybe if jeff starts playing more consistently he will have trade value, but then why would we even trade him?

I'm still a believer of this roster.

I don't for the life of me understand where all these "get Jason Smith" threads are coming from.

JASON SMITH IS A SCRUB!

I disagree.

Jason Smith a very good role player. Plays within himself. Plays tough defense inside. He is mobile for a 7 footer and also physical, which means you can play him at either the 4 or the 5. While hes no a good shot blocker, its not for lack of effort. he challenges shots an challenge hard. Real physical guy. Runs the floor well on both sides (ask Blake Griffin how he runs the floor).

He is a decent mid range shoote (from up to 18 feet) and a good finisher with good hands, making a perfect pick an pop/roll guy. He is struggling with shooting % right now though, that I will give you.

He's all effort. Think of him as Brandon Bass, slower but taller. He's not a scrub, and he should be with the Celtics. I've been watching him since last year and I know for a fact that he's the perfect role player big off the bench for us.

Yep, I'm driving the Jason Smith bandwagon.

[dang] straight -- he is a third string PF/C. Not a solution to anything.

I can say that I saw a fair amount of Jason Collins tonight. 11 minutes up from...zero minutes!

He would certainly give us a little bit of something. I'd say he'll give us more that what Sully is giving us at Center (dont get me wrong, Im not trading him for Sully, I just think that he'll give us more that what Sully is doing right now). And for what? Jason Collins and something... Cmon now.

But we go back to the same problem. Doc won't play him. He hates 7 footers now.

Sadly, I don't see it. Soon to be 24 year old rookie 2nd rd draft picks don't often materialize into superstars.

Tell it to Manu Ginobli. There have been a number of second round picks who became all stars.  Does it really matter all that much that K-Jo is 24 as a rookie instead of 22, like Mike Finley, or Stephen Jackson.  How about Bruce Bowen, not a superstar, or even an all star, but a very solid player who stuck in the league at age 25 after not being drafted.

It doesn't matter where you are picked or how old you may be.  IF K-Jo has NBA skills and a good motor, he'll play in the NBA.  I think he does, by the way, and would like to see him get a few minutes and maybe prove himself, like the other Ainge second round picks - Gomes, Powe, and BBD.

Not to rain on your parade, but this from RealGM:

"The Lakers' number one target is believed to be Ryan Anderson from the Hornets, but he is considered virtually untouchable."

The Lakers GM knows talent... Danny will be a fool if he doesn't acquire Ryan Anderson before anyone else does. He's a valuable asset to a contender.  Virtually Untouchable I think not. The Lakers don't have the right piece to trade for him. Pau? they already have davis, & Pau doesn't want to play center + he's much older.

The celtics could trade youngs & picks.

Jeff Green, Fab Melo, Sully & Draft picks...etc
