Title: Anderson Varejao
Post by: diconzo on November 14, 2012, 05:41:53 PM
Could the Celtics trade for Varejao? He would give them a solid presence next to Kg in the starting lineup and may come fairly cheap. Bass/Lee/Melo or a pick would work salary wise.

I can't see Cleveland trading him for any combination of those players. A third team would have to be involved to get talks started I would say.

Guy really has been beasting the last two seasons.

Also I heard he rebounds.

If this is true, he cannot play for us.

Children would weep. The sky would fall. The Four Horsemen would ride.

I'd love to have him on the Celts.  Absolute monster on the boards, doesn't cry about getting points/touches.  He is a hustler.  Both he and Garnett down-low would be a dangerous duo.

He would be useful on a team like the Celtics.  I just can't see Cleveland getting giving himup.

Just had a 35/18 game in a loss.  He's exploded this year - his price tag just keeps going up, dang it!

Cleveland has been looking to trade him. He is also 30 years old, which will be incorporated into his price tag. With his game style he's probably only got 2 or 3 years left.

Not to mention his contract has 2 years left, then a player option at a reasonable price for him

Rondo / Barbosa
Bradley / Terry
Pierce / Green
KG / Sully
Varejao / Wilcox

Nice  :)

That first unit is a great blend of Defense and Rebounding
The second unit is all about that Offense

Varejao would be perfect on our team, but as others have said, I doubt we can get him barring Jeff Green turning into a star (which is unlikely to happen).

Varejao will not fir into our system. KG will kick his gluteus maximus everytime KG sees his weird carrot top afro.

Ditto. Maybe if we had a few first rounders in the draft it might work but otherwise highly unlikely.

What part of our system wouldn't he fit into?  Offensively, defensively, rebounding...  I think he'd fit our team seamlessly.

Is it possible Cleveland could give him away to us?

They still hate Lebrons guts and helping us beat the Heat would be sweet revenge for both teams.

Bass,Collins, Joseph, Melo, and a 1st round pick for Varejao?

 ;D 8)

If the Celtics don't have to give up too much to get him, then I'm all for it. He would be awesome playing next to KG

Also Ray Allen doesn't like him, which is a big plus

In his own way, Fab Melo could be as good as countryman Varejao is now, in about 5 years. Not in the same exact ways, but Melo can be an elite shot blocking defender and above average rebounder. Perhaps only for 20-25 minutes a game though, less than Varejao.

I honestly dont think it'd take much...

A few decent guys to make the money work. Then a future pick or two.

The way Sideshow Andy is playing right now, his trade value is at an all time high. I think it'll take more than Bass, Melo and others to get him.

The man is at an All Star pace right now, they'd want a top tier starter for him or a young stud and future picks. We don't have those young studs.
