According to his Wikipedia page, Brian Scalabrine is on a "trial run" as a color commentator. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Scalabrine). For what it's worth, I've really enjoyed him the two times I've heard him call games and I'd love to have him as the full-time color commentator.

Sorry. I didn't realize, but am glad to see, that this is already a topic (http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=60229.0). I searched "Scalabrine" and came up with nothing post-2008. But I see the relevant thread includes "Scal."

I like him better than Donnie, I think Cornbread deserves first shot, if not then Scal. Donnie was never a Celtic and comes across too anti-Celtic.
-
Scal is really good at his job. It's a bonus that he's SCAL, but whoever he is, he adds a ton of knowledge to the broadcast and he delivers it coherently and entertainingly.
-
Scal is great. He gave some good insight into the celtics defensive problems tonight. His conversations with Tommy are priceless though. I really hope they get to do a lot of games together this year before Tommy hangs it up. I can't see any better options than Scal for a Tommy replacement. He's better than Max, and Donny sucks.

Scal has everything one would want in a color man. He's extremely knowledgeable about basketball, and more importantly, today's NBA. His explanation of defensive schemes and breakdowns are spot on, and the most relevant commentary I've heard from any color guy anywhere.
Scal is also friendly and conversational, without making it sound forced. I have a feeling that CSNNE will spend this year grooming him and then give him the road game role that the annoying Donnie Marshall has filled in the past.

I love the banter he and Tommy have as well as more of a "new school" perspective. It's nice to hear his opinion on things since he did play for us recently. It definitely is a good mix with Tommy's stories from the past. He also provides good insight on things. For example when he identified us using a D'Antoni play the last few games. He said it was a "read" for KG where the ball is put in his hands in the high post and he has the option of where he wants to go with it.
I do think CNNNE has taken note judging by the way he is now being used regularly alongside Mike and Timmy. Hopefully Marhsall's days are numbered and he can start calling UCONN games or something. This way he can stop pretending he likes the team he's covering.

Scal is great, has great insight and humor. He is a natural, I like him better than Donny.
-
Scal is very refreshing to hear as a commentator. from the typical boring commentator who says the same thing anyone who watches some basketball could say
-

...or, maybe he takes his "talents" to South Beach along with his UConn buddy. ;)

I think Scal is doing a wonderful job. He still needs some training but so far so good. Really never want to see Tommy leave but I know it'll happen someday and from what I've seen so far - I hope its Scal. I do enjoy Tommy and Scal together. Nice back and forth. Really liked Scal talking about KG running the D'Antoni offense! Great observation. And there was another one that I can't seem to remember. When he made it I was thinking - wow! never hear this kind of stuff- oh, it wa=hen he described PP having somebody guard him that easily jumped and PP always jnew he'd win those matchups. Great inside stuff Scal !
Whatever happens - Lord, pls let Donny move on to calling the dog shows or something. Half the time I mute the games when Donny is on. I hate him.

I agree, he's been fantastic.
He points out little factors with the inside knowledge or a current/recent NBA player whilst not taking it too easy on the Celtics. He's also not as biased at Heinsohn which irks me so bad sometimes.
I like him because he concentrates on defense and has obviously learned from Doc and Thibadeau and is always trying to give the viewer an insight to the defensive mindset.
Love him and hope he stays.
