Title: Zone with two 7 footers?
Post by: bfrombleacher on October 07, 2012, 06:05:07 AM
4 7 footers, a 6'10 big athletic PF.

Will we play even more zone this year? Does that make our zone one of the best in history?

The key is Doc now has options. He can go with the twin towers, or go small with Green at PF.

I think Darko is going to be the secret weapon.  He is a skilled big man and he's tough.

This is going to be a fun season!

I would love to see more zone to clog up the middle and prevent teams from driving. Im fine with teams truing to beat us with the jump shot.

I agree with darko being a secret weapon. I liked hearing how he wasn't trying to be someone he's not and is really falling into his role. I really think he is going to surprise a lot of people this year.

It seems like zones in the NBA don't work all that well except as a surprise change of pace kind of thing.  I think it comes down to there being too many players that can just plain shoot over the zone.  Two 7-footers in the middle can't help with that.

I am sure it is a weapon that Doc will use.

How do you like your idea against a team that can put 3-4 guys on the floor who can nail open 3's?

They would probably only employ it in certain situations. Maybe the team will have coaches to figure things like that out.
