Sheed is coming out of retirement to join the Knicks.

Haha, nice. Good for Sheed, as long as we don't have to deal with him. But didn't we see a similar article about him joining the Lakers last year?
It is funny that a lot of people are wishing he'd stuck around after 2010, since just about everyone here absolutely despised him until midway through the playoff run.

The only ref Sheed actually went after physically was none other than Tim Donaghy. I think he's being sent back out there like one of those cats that can smell cancer.

I really don't feel cheated at all. Rasheed looked like his body was breaking down when we played the Lakers in 2010, and if he feels it's up to speed, then so be it. He's three years older and should be three years less effective.
He's not joining the Lakers or the Heat. He's joining a talented but VERY dysfunctional Knicks team.
So it goes.

The most mind boggling thing about this video is that he can actually dunk now. I can't recall him ever dunking when he played for us, never mind windmill it..

Agreed. I also think he has some awesome doctors. :-X Might wanna check that urine sample.. Has he ever been that ripped in his career, ever? He's always been an intimidator, not to mention insane, but he seemed to have more of an edge than normal.
If he has some sort of magical rejuvenation next year ill be bummed it wasnt a couple seasons sooner. :'(
He never embraced it here for some reason, i always felt. I was left underwhelmed anyways.

Maybe, but a key difference is guys like Sheed are at low salaries instead of 6 years, $100 million.
And Sheed's actually had a lot of team success, unlike the kind of guys Thomas was bringing it.

He probably missed the game, comraderie etc., his body felt good (because it's been away from the grind), and he's giving it another go.
Pretty soon his attitude will become infectious, his body will fatigue and break down, and he'll remember why he hung it up in the first place.

UPDATE!
Rasheed Wallace will officially become a Knick on Monday.
Wallace has told the Knicks he has elected to come out of retirement and join their training camp, according to an NBA source.
The 6-foot-11 Wallace, who worked out with the Knicks over the weekend, retired two years ago after a disappointing season with the Celtics. The Knicks are expected to announce the signing Monday at Media Day. The first practices begin Tuesday.
Glad to have him back! Very enjoyable player to watch!
And i know one thing for sure, about Wallace this season!
He is going to lead every player in Technical Fouls haha

In his prime, Sheed probably would have made an ideal front court partner with Amare. He could play either position, he was a very good defender, and he could stretch the floor.
I don't think washed up Sheed will help a lot. I guess the Knicks could do worse for a deep bench guy, but Sheed is basically cooked.

I would rather had Sheed over Darko. The thing that gets overlooked alot with Rasheed is that he made it threw practically that whole season without getting injured. Where Shaq was diving on the floor in October and his health didnt hold up.

The difference between Sheed and Shaq was that Shaq actually produced something the games he played. He was also a good character to have in the locker room.
Dont get me wrong Sheed gave his all in the playoffs, but i would rather have a healthy Shaq.

In the past 2/3 years:
I've played more basketball in my driveway than Rasheed Wallace has played overall.
I've very recently had two major knee operations, and I know I'm in better shape than Rasheed Wallace.
He's had a way worse diet, watched way more TV, drank way more beer, and smoked waaaayyy more nuggets than I have.
And now Sheed's back in the NBA.
But for some reason I'm routing for him.

Between Sheed joining that team and Amare's work with Hakeem this summer, I'm revising an earlier post I made this summer about NY-BKN.
I think NY will win that battle. Sheed can only help them.
Perhaps he mailed it in for us during the regular season in 09-10, but he showed up in the post-season.
He even played well during a few select regular season games - that 09-10 Christmas day game in ORL? The one without Pierce? The one where TA had 16 pts?
Sheed played EXCELLENT D on Dwight, and added a few demoralizing dunks in that upset game.
Not sure how much he believes he has left, but evidently he thinks he has some.

I heard they have a training camp spot open for Dick Bavetta.
They should start wearing short shorts, and be able to have hard candies available on the sidelines.
