Man those off the screens Kris Joseph is running is smooth. Can he play 2 guard? Because if he's consistent with those, he can run the Ray Allen play with Rondo, and him being bigger and more athletic, he could be a dual threat.

I think I know why Fab is not getting rebounds. I observed a couple plays where he just goes up with one arm above and the other not doing anything.

It looks like he can get good position, but he's not grabbing the rebound, he's tapping it. That's something to be looked at and be fixed.

Meanwhile, with 4 TOs, is the 12-minutes-of-play Gibson boomlet officially over?

Made a nice move at the end.  Can see why he lead the Turkish league is scoring.  Can never see him being more than a 14th or 15th guy on an NBA roster who goes in during a blowout.

Moore running the offense reminds me of a 5-year-old asked to dish out candies after dinner: one shot for me, one shot for someone else, one shot for me...

But one thing he doesn't do is turn the ball over.

I think Danny's right about 3J in that his body is perfectly fine for playing the modern PF.

The issues with him are intelligence and assertiveness.

Strikes me as a player Danny's likely to bundle up and move.  Part of a S&T for Lee or Mayo would be perfect.

Yes, looks like another day of improvement for Moore.  Give him seven more games and he could hold onto his job.

And Joseph is quietly very impressive.

Not watching -- that Indiana roster looks really weak. Are they any type of competition? A good gauge for what Boston's players are capable of? Or is it just a run-out?

The Pacers front line looks a little tougher than the C's. But it seems to be a good match.

He doesn't have a role, or know it yet.  He was the GUY at Purdue.  He's not gonna be that in the league.  He has to know that he will make his bread a) playing defense b) getting rebounds c) running the break.  Hit the open shots if you are wide open, otherwise pass the ball.

I will say, that in terms of him fitting in on the team in the short term, this might actually be a blessing in disguise.  While it'd be nice to see him dominate and potentially have star potential, keep in mind that the likes of Joe Forte, Kedrick Brown, and Jerome Moiso all dominated in summer league play.

Only a small percent of the league is asked to take over games and create their own shot.  The bread and butter for most role players is converting easy baskets.  That's what made the likes of Eddie House, James Posey, and (now) Brandon Bass so successful.

If JJJ wants to contribute this year, shooting the midrange jumper, playing smart defense, and rebounding is probably the right way.  Jacking up crazy shots like Jonathan Gibson did yesterday likely is not.

Melo reminds me of Steve Neal being signed by Belichick as a former wrestler.

Neal was a better story, though, as an undrafted rookie FA who went on to win three Superbowls with the Pats.

His problem is he doesn't see the floor.  He gets pressured and looks to break down his man and score.

Sully is playing a lot better when he doesn't have to play center. Really putting a good game together, although his turnovers are a pretty high this game. Loving Joseph, he is really surprising, but he was the go to guy at Syracuse for four years so he has had the chance to improve his game a bit more than some of the younger guys. Hopefully he continues his growth because I could see him being a great addition off the bench on the cheap.

Miles Plumlee is killing us, playing really good.

Aah great hussle by Melo, 2bad there was a foul.

I know. I can't imagine this is the same Miles Plumlee that was playing in Duke, who, everyone thinks his younger brother Mason was better. Boy was he underused in that system

Makes me wonder, can that 7'1'' dude from 2 years ago Brian Zoubek can be this good or at least even close to him? That's a big body.

Looked like a pretty clean block to me.

The team looks totally different went Sullinger is gets the ball and makes the decisions.  The guards coming off picks never seem to hit the wide open guy rolling or popping.  It is hard to look good when your guards are just shooters.

Sully looks great.  I'm surprised he isn't in double figures in rebounds.  It seems like he is grabbing all the rebounds down low.

Offensively he looks great.  Very in control and powers through contact somehow always seeming to get the ball on the rim.

And his passing is great.

JJJ showing you his game though.  He gets it 1-1 face up within 18 feet and hits that little set shot fade away.  No one is blocking that or contesting he is too tall and long.

He just needs to get some boards and tip backs and he can give us 4-8 pts, 2-4 rebounds in 8-10 min.

Given that he's needed 23 minutes per to average 7 and 5 in summer league action, we should probably be jumping for joy if he manages couple of baskets and a couple of rebounds in 10 minutes of NBA action.

I can't wait to see Royce White and see if his passing is as good as Sullinger.  White was touted as a big guy who could really see the floor and make passes.

How about Melo dribbling down the floor and dishing to Lasme for the dunk.  Ok, the pass was 100mph from 10ft away and nearly took Lasme's head off.  But Melo can pass.

after 3 days of watching the summer leagues,

Kris is a keeper, but he gotta get bigger. Nice offense, he can shoot and drive. But if he gets to play, he will get eaten alive by bigger forwards like Melo or Lebron...

really like Melo, really good post defender. That hustle block he did on Plumlee was really good even though its a foul. KG will do wonders on him.

Impressed with Sullinger again, very consistent with is play.

Another thing I saw was the bigs passed more than the guards...

Moore with another big game.  15/4/3, wth a block.  One point less than sully in 6 less minutes of play time.

Its weird to me everyone keys in on sullinger having a good game, when his numbers are so close to (and maybe not as good as) Moores.  Sully had 4 more rebounds than moore , but also 4 more turnovers.  Moore had 2 more assists, and one less block.

Moores played better and better with each passing game, and is averaging under 2 turnovers a game often playing out of position.  I personally dont see any issue with his ball handling.

Aside from that...Kris Josephs is looking like a potential steal. I like how he rebounds and starts the break.  He also seems to handle contact well when he penetrates.

I appreciate fab melos size/speed, but I'm still disappointed that pick wasnt used on PJ3.  PJ3s combination of size and skill is so rare.

I'm not looking at numbers as much when I watch.  You can't guage much from that.  Every year there are guys that light it up in Summer League and are terrible in the NBA.

Sullinger is doing things to impress me besides the numbers.  He is handling bigger opponents well, being tenacious on the boards, and he is passing very well out there.

Like to me I think Joseph has been more impressive that Moore, even if Moore has better numbers.

No, we won pretty much with the starting lineup, with Johnson and Smith instead of Moore and Williams in the 4th. The scrubs came in with 2 minutes left to go when the game was out of reach.

I thought Moore played outstanding as well as Xmas , they did let Stevenson intimidate them.

I think Moore is proving he wants to be in the NBA. Making DA think hard I'm sure.

JJJ is the one that worries me.  He plays an offensive game sorta like Bass, but he don't have Bass bulk and upper body strenght to block out bigs .

JJJ 's back is really against the wall. He is playing better last two games. But, not to the level Moore has taken his game .

When you shoot just a inch over 400 % fg rate, it doesn't matter if your anthony davis, nobody is going to like that.

Joseph basically was not an efficient scorer in his final year. That being said, i was impressed to see a trend that, when his shots weren't falling, in the end of the game he still ended up going 7-8 at the ft line. He stops doing things that don't work and resorts to other ways to score.

His other flaw in college was that he was just too passive out on the court at times and didn't deliver the goods when the team needed it. Instead waiters was the guy who did that.

Joseph has some very nice physical tools and playing with better players should be a more efficient scorer.

I have watched all three games.  So far, here are my impressions:

ET Moore - Worthy of the backup PG spot behind Rondo, but needs to be a better distributor and facilitator.  Had his best game today.

JJJ - Best game today.  Show a little bit of everything, blocked shot, boards, and a couple nice step back shots

Sullinger - will be the best draft pick we have had since Rondo.  As advertised.

Melo - surprisingly good passer, has some feel for the game, athleticism, and can definitely reject shots

Joseph - to me the most surprising player of all of our draft picks, super smooth jumper off of the down screen, all around game is solid, simply just a player.  I said Ryan Gomes 2.0 but Joseph is a 2/3

Xmas - gritty tough guy, plays hard, good size for a 2, can shoot, penetrate, always looking for the open guy...good all around game...would like to see him on the D-league roster

Williams - will probably be an invite just because he is big but is showing me zero so far

Gibson - gunner

Smith - gunner-light

Brackins - how was this guy a 1st round pick?

Lasme - plays hard but is a non-factor

At the time of the draft I wrote about Joseph and why is was downgraded and why I thought he was underrated. Basically he was downgraded because he isn't a superstar at any one thing. However unlike most players he also isn't really bad at any one thing. In a team style offense, he won't hurt you and can help you as long as you don't ask him to be your star.
