Title: Royce White Stats VS other High Potential picks in this years draft = impressive
Post by: rondohondo on June 22, 2012, 10:45:53 AM
Lets look at some of the numbers White put up against other top talent big men entering the draft

Game 1 vs Kansas and Thomas Robinson(Projected top 5 pick)
White
18pts, 17 rebs, 4 asts , 2 blks, 1 stl, 50%FG  in 28 mins

Robinson
 11pts, 14 rebs, 2 asts , 3 blks, 0 stl 40%FG in 32 mins

Game 2 vs Kansas
White
18pts,9 rebs, 5 asts, 0 blk, 0 stl      54% FG

Robinson
13 pts, 7 rebs 0 asts , 1 blk, 1 stl    45%FG

VS Baylor
(Jones - late lottery, Acy - 2nd rd pick/ )both elite athletes

Game 1
White
14pts,5 rebs, 4asts , 7 TO 58% FG

Jones
18pts,7 rebs, 2 asts, 2 TO 61%FG

Game 2 VS Baylor
White
11pts, 11 rebs , 4 asts 3 TO 37% FG

Jones
10pts, 12 rebs, 0 asts, 0 TO 45%FG

NCAA TOURNAMENT VS UCONN in a 77-64 win

White
15pts, 13 rebs, 2 asts, 1 TO 66%FG

Drummond

Oreaki
2pts, 3 rebs,   25% FG

vs Kentucky ( Davis projected # 1, Jones projected late lottery)

White
23 PTS, 9 rebs, 4 asts, 3 stls, 1 blk , 3 TO, 75% FG

Davis
15pts, 12 rebs, 5 asts, 0 stls, 2 blk, 3 TO, 44% FG

Jones
8 pts, 11 rebs, 3 asts, 1 stl, 2 blk, 1 TO,  33% FG

So in 6 games vs other 1 rd big men
Anthony Davis - # 1 pick
Thomas Robinson top 5 pick
Andre Drummond - top 10 pick
Terrence Jones - top 15 pick
Perry Jones   - top 15-20 pick
Quincy Acy    - 2nd rd pick
Jeff Whitey   - 2nd rd pick
Oreaki    - future 1st rd pick

White's Averages vs these 1st rd picks
16.5 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 4 APG, 57 % FG

and his team went 3-3 against teams with clearly much more talent.

Yes he had some big turn over games , but on the c's he would have hall of fame players he is playing with to teach him when to pass and when not to , plus the best assist man in the game and a former PG coaching him to give him advice.

Those are some pretty impressive numbers against other high level draft talent

I really want this kid on the C's and would even trade up to get him

The more I think about it I can see why Danny would be high on him.  Lottery-type talent that is rated lower because of off-court issues and that he is perceived as a "tweener."  I don't know how a 6'8" 260-lb dude is not a prototypical NBA power forward but what the heck do I know anymore?

I like it.  Royce White in green!!

A bench of

PG: Vet min
SG: Ray
SF: Green
PF: White
 C: Wilcox or Steamer

in a pretty versatile bench with shooting , ball handling , and posting up ability from Green and White. Plus Wilcox,Green and White can all get out and run on the fast break with Ray trailing for 3's with Rondo running the break.

Then when Rondo needs a break they can go to White or PP running the offense with KG at center and Ray at SG spacing the floor.

Another important point is that White, based on his passing ability, clearly has good hands and court vision.  We need guys with good hands who can catch Rondo's passes.

Yep...Big hands .. like DR J is good THING ...........Small Hands "RYAN HOLLINS" can't catch worth a dang.

Most of the GREAT forwards had big mitts to control the ball.

We NEED ROYCE WHITE !!!

DOn't need none jumping, small hands , soft players.

White is way better than most ahead of him...... shooting guards ::)

I like White a lot BUT he needs the ball to even come close to those numbers.

And we all know who is running the show...Rondo.

Essentially he is talented but it's not a good fit for this team.

i believe that the off court issues are only part of the reason for him not being in the lottery. the stats provided above are great, but there a few OTHER stats worth looking at as well.

2011-12 free throw % = 49.8. this is awful.

further, his 3 pt shooting is 33.3%.

they guy doesnt seem able to score if he is more than a few feet from the basket. this is worrysome.

since the celtics are picking at 21, i guess all players have some problems. maybe the pluses for white will out weigh the minuses. the celtics might gamble and hope he turns out.

He does to put up those ASSIST numbers... but why for scoring and rebounding?  If he has good hands and can run the floor he will score pts with Rondo and he can certainly board and should well since he'll be off the ball as opposed to away from the rim as a PG in college.

It's interesting that Chad Ford, the source of this rumor, projects White to play SF in the NBA.

A 270 pound SF?  Really?

He's Antoine Walker without the 3 point shooting.  I'll take him.

When you watch the highlights though, he plays like a small forward. I can get excited about this kid.

Great Video from his head coach, Fred Hoiberg, about his strengths and WEAKNESSES. I capitalize that because it is refreshing to see the criticism of his game also.

I would gladly take him with one of our picks though. His game looks like it will transition very well to the NBA especially when he becomes a better shooter.

White weighed in at 261 at the combine - How much does Lebron weigh? Lol, not that I'm saying White is Lebron-like, but he is athletic and has quick feet. Its possible he can play SF convincingly.

Per FECT o ....Bron weights 265 , we need a young , STRONG , guy to match up with LBJ....this just might be the guy to match LBJ and make him work his tail off.  As bron closes in on 30 , kids like this can make it really hard on him. ASk Wade.

I also like what White could bring when playing next to KG.  He has the bulk to bang against bigger big men like Baby used to do, giving KG a break at times.

That could be a pseudo compromise for KG on the whole 4/5 debate.

I don't follow college ball.  My opinion is irrelevant.  So here it is:

I watched a bunch of clips of him and read about him yesterday.  Of course, highlight clips only show highlights... so I've never put much stock into them.  A highlight reel of Brian Scalabrine could make him look like Larry Bird.  I never really know what I'm looking at.

... but that kid looks pretty darn skilled.  6'8 with a 7 foot wingspan and he SEEMS to have exception ball handling and passing ability... seems to have solid footwork and ability to score around the basket.  Seems to have good rebounding ability.  Interesting player.

But I think I'll leave the talks about rookies to people who actually know what they are talking about.

I always saw LBJ listed at 250 but the internet says his "REAL" weight is closer to 270.  I stand corrected

Well as long as you found it on the internet it must be accurate. lol

I would put his weight around 245 250 max. His legs are to thin for him to weigh 270. Hes solid but hes not a tank. No way he weighs more than barkley did in his prime.
