"Get in my Poster! I'm the Big Ticket!"
And Pietrus - do your Posey impression and bump Kobe around a bit - just like in the clip.
I just hope Jermaine can handle Bynum.Agreed. KG can handle Gasol, I just hope JO can slow Bynum down, at least. Their height might give us trouble.
Unleash Bradley on Kobe- that should be fun to watch. although Bradley will probably be fouled out in 5 minutes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2u20oxwEBgTP I love it :P
WE NEED THIS KG!LETS GO CELTICS!!!

I think the key IMO is to take out the 2 headed snake in Kobe and Bynum they been what makes them go and also rebound rebound rebound.
These games against the Lakers take on their own life form due to the nature of the rivalry. This is important for both teams because of the races to simply make the playoffs. The Lakers road record is horrific but they did win in Denver last Friday on ESPN right after our hot tempered game versus the Knicks that I thought we would lose.
To me, the key matchups will be our bigs versus their bigs. I think we rotate guys to pick on Kobe and take him out. KG vs Pau, JO(and others) vs Bynum, Bass vs Metta, etc.
Boston has a clear adv at PG but Derek can step up and hit big shots just to pee you off. I like Bostons bench on paper but it must translate to the basketball court.
The Boston fans need this game to get off the Super Bowl Schtick. The Bruins are in a funk as they played a horrific game in Buffalo last night. This is important psychologically.
BEAT LA! BEAT LA! BEAT LA!
I want to see what the C's can do with KG guarding Bynum.Yup matchups I want to see
If he does as well against him as he has done against Howard this year, I will feel MUCH better about our depth at C...
@celtics
All 15 players are at shootaround this AM. #BeatLA

Derrick Stafford
Over his 23 NBA seasons, Derrick Stafford has worked 1,402 regular
season, 99 playoff, and five Finals games. He was a member of the
crew that officiated the 1997 McDonald’s Championship in Paris, the Legends All-Star Game in Orlando and the 2002 NBA All-Star Game. The 23-year NBA officiating veteran has also served twice on the Executive Board of the National Basketball Referee Association. Stafford has six years of CBA officiating experience, and he officiated Pro-Am basketball for six years. He also has seven years of collegiate officiating and 10 years of high school officiating experience in Georgia. Yet another official that is known to be quick to call technical fouls. Pat Riley and Stafford have a bit of bad blood between them. Back in 2003 when Riley was coaching, he accused Stafford of shouting "It's not about you. Go on TV crying." at Riley when Riley complained excessively about the calls. Stafford was suspended for 2 games as a result. Stafford was also fined as a result of a complaint that Lawrence Frank made when he was coach of the Nets. I found 4 other articles detailing complaints about Stafford for his actions or comments. It seems that Mr Stafford is a hot head who loves to give out quick technicals and lash out at players and coaches who question him. The Celtics are 1-0 this season and 7-3 over the last 10 games with Stafford on the court. Their win was against Toronto and the Celtics shot 32 free throws to 20 for the Raptors. The Lakers are 1-1 this season and 7-3 over their last 10 with Stafford. His home W/L record this season is 14-6.
Marat Kogut
Kogut is entering his 3rd season as an NBA referee. The son of immigrants from the Ukraine, his younger years were sometimes tough. His family immigrated when he was just 7 days old. At one time he and his family were homeless and slept on a park bench when they were forced to leave a Queens homeless center. In high school, he spent his free time volunteering as a ref at a local recreation league. At 6-foot-2, he knew he wasn’t tall or talented enough to make the pros as a player. At 16, Kogut became the youngest person certified by the local International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. His professional experience includes 3 years in the WNBA, as well as 4 years in the NBA Development League, where he officiated over 180 games, including the Finals in his last two seasons and the 2009 D-League All-Star Game in Phoenix, Ariz. Prior to joining the NBA officiating staff, Kogut worked several years at the college level as well as 4 years in New York metro area High School basketball. Also, he spent two years in Atlanta working for the Supervisor of Officials of the Southeastern Conference. The Celtics are 0-1 this season and 6-4 in the last 10 games with Kogut calling the them. The loss was to the Knicks on Christmas Day in which the Celtics shot 30 free throws to 34 for the Knicks. The Lakers are 2-0 this season and 7-3 in their last 10 games with Kogut as a ref. In their 2 wins, the Lakers shot 59 free throws to 21 for their opponents (Clippers and Suns). His home W/L record this season is 11-7
Gary Zielinski
Zielinski has officiated 616 regular season games and six Playoff games. In addition to his 10 seasons in the NBA, Zielinski officiated for seven seasons in the CBA and four in the WNBA. Zielinski worked the CBA Finals from 1997-2000, the CBA All-Star Game in 1995 and the WNBA Finals from 1998-2001. The Celtics are 1-0 this season with Zielinski in the court. That win was against the Pacers and the officiating was terrible. The Celtics shot 14 free throws to 31 for the Pacers and in one sequence at the end, with the Celtics ahead the refs gave the Pacers 2 shots and the ball on a bogus technical foul on Pietrus. The Celtics are 9-1 in their last 10 games with Zielinski on the court while the Lakers are 2-0 this season and 5-5 in their last 10. In the 2 wins this season, the Lakers shot 24 free throws to 38 for their opponents (Utah, Denver) His home W/L record this season is 11-7.
Yikes! Isn't Marat Kogut the guy who was the St. John's equipment manager when World Peace was there? (Still get a kick out of his new name)Official ReportTP for all your work doesnt go unappreciated F L

I smell a scuffle before its over.I don't know, maybe if World Peace wasn't present...
Pau Gasol is catching the ball in acres of space too frequently. That's KG taking chances
There ya go, JO!
Do what you do best!
Send it back, Son!
Kobe switched off of Pierce far too easily on that last possession. Can't leave Steve Blake defending Paul in the post.
Surprised Pierce passed it out. Didn't like him doing that but it worked out with Bass nailing that jumper from above the FT line. Thought Pierce had a closer and easier shot.
lol...Rondo Kris-Krossed Blake...

You playing soccer? ;)
How are the knees?
I kicked a chair...does that count..? Leg stiffness is sorta constant, but doing pretty good still..my timing and jump are actually coming BACK.....hello rim..! How about you...?

I know people don't like to admit it, but JO has been really good this season.Certainly playing well today
Nice Rondo being aggressive to the rim but FTs = as good as empty posession :(
Nice Rondo being aggressive to the rim but FTs = as good as empty posession :(Ye of so little faith.
Anyone hear a woman shouting everytime the Lakers are on offense?Yup blasting my 7.1 system and can hear her clearly to the right of me "Travelllll!! Miss it!"
Nice Rondo being aggressive to the rim but FTs = as good as empty posession :(Yeah but nice to see a questionable call going the other way.

Slow-motion for me, Rondo!Hahaha
This has all the drawing on the board for a heartbreaking Kobe hero ball finish and us dropping a close one
I'm becoming more and more convinced that Wilcox should be getting more minutes than Bass. They both need time at 2 positions.
[blasphemy]
Who wants it more?
2nd half gonna be a barfight.
we would be up 10 with a decent point guard he just turns it over again and again and again ............???????????????????
does he never learn ? does Doc never tell him to take care of the ball ??
I'm just going to pretend that Kobe hit a three instead of the Bynum and-1.

Well, if you notice, the Celts aren't even going NEAR the offensive glass...as usual, just putting up a shot, and turning to go back before it even his the rim....that is the bad side of doc-alogy.......he isn't a wrong..but he still doesn't understand rebounding...!
Defending Rondo so EASY you don't have to guard him at all.

Except their top three defense in points allowed per game and FG% allowed per game over the last 5 years says Doc might be onto something in making sure you get back on defense and not allowing easy fast break basketsWell, if you notice, the Celts aren't even going NEAR the offensive glass...as usual, just putting up a shot, and turning to go back before it even his the rim....that is the bad side of doc-alogy.......he isn't a wrong..but he still doesn't understand rebounding...!
I've said this so many times...it has to be the most irritating thing about this team. After we put up a shot to see 4 Lakers and NO Celtics reaching for the rebound is just ridiculous.

This is a classic example of two teams that know each other too well (even though we only play twice a year).
It's games like this where I especially miss Perk. We need to box out.Right on Roy..!

How do you get a fast break..? It is only 5 on 5 out there....a fast break is really only another major Defense breakdown.....WHERE IS YOUR MAN...I always say..!
Someone alert me when they call 3 seconds on the Lakers at any point in this game.
JO got hurt on that dunkThink he was playing it up looking for a whistle.
KG jumper isn't falling can we go to Pierce?!?!!

You crash the glass and your man releases on the break with a quick out you get numbers and lay it in.
Not rocket science.

He has 2 turnovers. What are you seeing that I am not?
Rondo impersonating Jeremy Lin attacking. I wish he would do that more often. I kid about lin partIt's on Doc that there I agree
Bass boxed out gasol..nice..!
Wait Troy Murphy is on the Lakers now?
Boy this really hieghtens up the rivalry even more!
Pierce nonexistent smh
So, yeah... Wilcox can't guard Gasol.
Hey guys!
Just caught up with the feed!!!
What a crazy game so far, really looks like a finals game, seriously. And WOW we look young. Just hope KG and PP will start hitting shots soon :x

Bass can't either. We are screwed if either KG or JO got hurt
yel at that pass too..it wasn't rondo..but it was a bad pass...
control the game or 3 quarters only to give it away with TOs and horrible shot selectionOh come on. This is a close game and its been anyone's game from start to finish. Knock it off. They haven't given ANYTHING away, especially not the game.
A lot of Rondo blame going on in here, the captain is cold.
C'mon Captain...where ya been?

shut up Nick. Really don't need you to big brother tonight. nothing I posted is false. boston controlled the game until the last few minutes. they gave away the lead with TOs and bad shots
KG! We need that.
KG=money!Bass = KG!
Just checked Artest's head to head with Pierce. Since Christmas 2007, in 7 games Pierce has scored more than 16 points against Artest just 2 times and Pierce's FG% is not good. This doesn't include playoffsI thought Paul had the highest points against the Fakers of anybody?

Bynum is a MAJOR camper...but doc needs to REMIND the refs of this......it might help...take 4 seconds off of his 8 second paint visits..!
Not giving up yet

tie game and you're not throwing in the towel! ;D
unreal. great defense only not to box out mat barnesTP for the box out talk...besides you only hae 27 points...!
Celts playing hard all night. Sad thing to me though is that the Lakers really are not that good and they only have 3 road wins all year..
Fisher must really be done now. That's a shot he would never miss against the Celts.

i bet them all on the playoffs last year...went all in
Patriots players in the stands...funny thing though..it seems to me that SOME of the players are in a better mood than a lot of the FANS i know..! Just saying..!
Nice Frenchy!
please try to draw a foul
Fishy just took a jump ball from KG?!?Nah, we just didn't tip it the right way.
Kelly Dwyer @KDonhoops
It's a shame the Celtics only get three offensive rebounds a month because nobody's better at creating off of them than Rajon Rondo.
Yeah, Lakers knew we were going straight back with the tip rather than to a side spot. You would be surprised how many of these mismatches we lose cause every team knows that's our mismatch play on a tipoff.Fishy just took a jump ball from KG?!?Nah, we just didn't tip it the right way.
The rebounding on this team is an embarrassment
take a time out
I would've liked to have seen Ray dribble into a three there instead of giving it up to Rondo.Either that, or give it STRAIGHT back to Rondo. Dribble for 3 seconds = 3 seconds less to "create". Also, the rest of the offense was static, no one was moving. I didn't even mind that Rondo tried the shot, there was nothing else to do.
Lakers go ahead on a tough play inside at the rim; Celtics keep missing jumpshot after jumpshot, and ball movement breaks down with everybody hanging out away from the basket. You are spot on to make it worse all of jump shooting = no rebounds
Guys, this is what people are talking about when they say our team desperately lacks an inside presence on offense.
I hate how bad this team is on the boards. It is a travesty.
gasol=trash man
I think he means: he cleans up.gasol=trash man
Please. He is a great player
Pierce had Ray open SMH
No doubt we are going to lose this.
*cracked my other 40oz*Free basketball, yayah!
great 5 more minutes of watching bynum go over the back and camp in the lane while gasol never gets boxed out
Blame that play on Pierce. Terrible read by him, he had Ray wide open.Looked like he turned the wrong way, or too late.
Not really we blew it when we had the chance and are going to pay for it u feel itNo doubt we are going to lose this.
None at all?
No doubt we are going to lose this.

I miss AB, real talk... I'm thinking, don't know what you got til it's gone...
Time for Doc to come up with some new last 10-to-15-seconds plays. Can't be 100% on every play after a TO
What the heck? Ray Allen post-up jumper?Seriously I mean that isn't rays game
Is this really the best we can come up with here?
This is a PATHETIC showing by this team in the last 3 minutes of the game / overtime.
I really can't stand watching this team sometimes.
wow, that was a double dribble by Kobe
Besides that Ray 3 at the end of the 4th quarter, can anyone honestly remember the last bucket this team made? That's why we need someone to take it to the ****ing hole.
This offense is so frustrating and pathetic to watch.
This game is over.
we winning this game
You live by Rondo...you die by Rondo
JO is open every time. Trust your teammates and share the ball.
Bahaha . . . every time we go ahead on a jumpshot, the Lakers take it close inside and get a tip in.And yet sometimes even games you deserve to lose...you win.
Serves the Celtics right. If you can't get a single basket inside you deserve to lose.
GET RONDO OUT OF THE GAME.
GET RONDO OUT OF THE GAME.
Why, oh why, can't we grab a rebound?I'm trying to wonder this because I don't understand that and I don't understand how they don't know how to box out. Where's that Red video from YouTube when you need it.
our rebounding is horrendous, just horrendousIt's absent. Something that does not exist, can't be horrendous ;)

Didn't Pierce run the show to end regulation...how did that work out?GET RONDO OUT OF THE GAME.
Seriously, just put Pietrus in. He can stretch the floor, and we're running the offense through Pierce anyway.
uggghh KG9 missed shots in a row ... ughh is [dang] right

This is what Doc is best at. :)
I still don't see the issue with Rondo being out there. The only thing going wrong right now is our lack of rebounding.
now what
now what
I hated Pierce trying to beat Artest off the dribble to win the game. Really low percentage play.
I would have preferred just about anything else there.
now what
finish in the 7 or 8 spot and get bounced in the first round. this team has no size
I still don't see the issue with Rondo being out there. The only thing going wrong right now is our lack of rebounding.
Because he kills our spacing and teams double off him daring him to shot. It makes life in our halfcourt so difficult. He might give us easy shots in transition, but it's no coincidence that we usually struggle closing out games and he'll never have the ball in his hands.
I hated Pierce trying to beat Artest off the dribble to win the game. Really low percentage play.I got the feeling they expected a quick foul, and the *real* play would come *after* that.
I would have preferred just about anything else there.
Pierce bricks one, and Gasol comes up huge. The only thing that would have been more fitting would have to somehow mix in a Lakers' offensive rebound there, and a KG clanger.
Tough loss.
we really need young legs at the 4 and 5 to box out and rebound
5 free throws the entire game. How is that even possible for an NBA game that lasts 53 minutes?Happens quite easily, unfortunately, when you have a team that has absolutely no desire to take the ball to the rack.
Seriously, did Rondo do ANYTHING at all at the end of that game / overtime?
You wonder why people question his ability to be a franchise player.

Very surprised that they lost this one against LA. They were in control for so long and looked the superior side throughout most of the contest. Lakers weren't playing particularly well either but they just hung in there and hung in and managed to steal one.
The horrid rebounding and Garnett's miserable shooting night did them in.
Why, they were worse than O'Neal and KG were for the gamewe really need young legs at the 4 and 5 to box out and rebound
Doc should have played Bass and Wilcox in overtime.
Seriously, did Rondo do ANYTHING at all at the end of that game / overtime?
You wonder why people question his ability to be a franchise player.

Bass can't defend or rebound Gasol or Bynum. More likely to hurt the C's than help them. Why, they were worse than O'Neal and KG were for the gamewe really need young legs at the 4 and 5 to box out and rebound

Fresh legs. KG and JO were spent. Bass and Wilcox at least were fresh and they're younger. Can expect them to make a hustle play or hit a jumpshot.
KG....trade him..please
I still don't see the issue with Rondo being out there. The only thing going wrong right now is our lack of rebounding.
Because he kills our spacing and teams double off him daring him to shot. It makes life in our halfcourt so difficult. He might give us easy shots in transition, but it's no coincidence that we usually struggle closing out games and he'll never have the ball in his hands.
exactly. can anybody tell me something Rondo did at all at the end of that game?
Rondo absolutely DISAPPEARS at the end of close games.
The Lakers are not an average or bad team.
They are 15-11 while playing against a strength of schedule that has thus far been the 2nd hardest in the league and played only half their games at home. They have also already played a back to back to back.
This was a tough loss to a contending team.

And Pierce...he bricked so many shots at the end. Ray and Pietrus missed a bunch of 3s, trade them. Rondo disappeared, and Bass barely played in the 4th, probably because he's terrible.

Wilcox would have been a fine alternative though -- alternative to JO, not KG, because then the spacing would have gotten even worse with JO, Wilcox and Rondo out there together.

Greenfaith, I do like Rondo. Seriously. I love what he does, most of the time, for the first 3 quarters. What I can't stand is how he disappears in the 4th quarter in close games. He has so much talent, so many tools at his disposal, yet he turns back into "role player Rondo" at the end of close games, especially against tough opponents. He defers to the Big 3 and stops making big plays or running the offense. It's maddening because I know he's capable of more.
i knew we wasn't gonna win once the game went to OT
PP and KG 13-41. This won't cut it in big games.

Agreed, mostly.
While I do place equal blame on our Bigs, it was frustrating for me to watch Kobe lay off of him.
Rondo needs to have the confidence to take that J.
what we saw tonight was 2 old heavyweight boxers going at it one more time. neither are contenders anymore
Disappointing end to the game, but you are going to lose some close games. It isn't the end of the season. I think that it is obvious that KG and JO's legs are shot at the end of this game. No legs / no hops is a big reason for the rebounding woes. Those boards are obviously the difference in the game. We were playing great D though. The intensity was there. If Kobe has to make a ton of incredibly difficult fall away jumpers the D has done their job.
I say we need to crank up Wilcox's minutes and get him more integrated into the rotation. He is athletic and can jump. He just needs to be motivated. We just aren't going to win any of these close games with KG playing 36 min and JO playing 33. The guys are just too old to play those minutes. PP as well, he played 48min?? sheesh.
I agree that I would have liked to see more Wilcox / Bass in overtime.
Another big issue was that we were too intimidated to take the ball to the hoop during crunch time in this game. I don't know if it is intimidation from Pau/Bynum or what? Rondo can't take the foot off the pedal when it counts. Make a strong drive to the hoop and make one of their bigs stop you, and then look for the open man. We got to stay true to the basics of good basketball to beat the good teams.
5 free throws the entire game. How is that even possible for an NBA game that lasts 53 minutes?Oh please don't dare blame that on the refs, ourselves are the only ones to blame we didn't drive to the rim AT ALL and we're a soft jump shooting team
JO 5 rebounds 2 pts. in 29 min.??????

Bass was limited because of Gasol and Bynum's size; but he should have abused Troy Murphy. Wilcox was playing good D. Doc's rotations continue to be in denial of the obvious fact that KG and JO can only play limited minutes.

He shut Bynum down the entire game. It's not his job to guard Gasol and Bynum simultaneously. You want to get on him about his offense, fine but then you have to remind yourself of how many times you praised Perk when he was similarly productive.

Bynum had 17 boards, 7 offensive.
Or...
Bynum had more offensive rebounds than JO had total rebounds.
Held him to 6/15, though.
Nice work, JO. :-\

No, I don't blame him (again), I blame who cuts his checks! KG held Dwight to worse than that, what does that mean to me? He still got 16pts (crucial points more than once) and 17rbs against 2pts 5rbs... looks like Bynum is the one who played D and produced on offense!!! I don't care how you spin it 16 pts and 17rbs is NOT being shutdown!!! Especially when Bynums average is 17.1 pts a game with a little over 12rbs lol!!!!! Uh no, Wilcox straigt up D'd Bynum for sure on two misses! Wilcox barely even sniffed the floor but was productive in that brief time! Now, Bynum torched KG (all of those 7mins when JO wasn't in)... yeah, Bynum scored 16pts in 7 minutes, lol!! Again, Jo didn't do much of anything if the guy almost had his avg in pts (-1) but exceeded his rb avg (+5)!!! Not saying JO is garbage (on defense cuz jury is still out on his offense) but you are seeing more when it just wasn't the case.
Tough loss. What disappointed me the most was that we let the Lakers bench outscore ours while theirs is the worst bench in the NBA. Barnes was killing us.
Also very disappointed to see Rondo back in passive/scared mode, it cost us big time especially at the end of the game (to the point I was thinking playing Moore would have been better...).
I'm not a fan of the Pierce isos but I liked his last shot for the win, too bad it didn't fall.
Anyway, even if the loss sucks, it was a great game - maybe not pretty but very tense and close the whole time, vintage rivalry!
Should have won this game.
1. Kobe was chucking up shots at the end which wernt falling for the most part.
and 2. we had TWO chances to close the game with the final shot. Why on earth was the ball not in Pierces hands the whole time followed by him driving to the hoop for a foul? (how many free throws last night??)
We could have lived with a Gasol and Bynum pounding if the bigs just crashed the boards a little better. After the 3rd quarter, I knew Kobe wasnt going to be the problem, it was gonna be gasol and bynum.
The fact that it was close says a lot about both teams (good and bad) but it should have been a win.
