Key Matchups
(http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/basketball/nba/players/3080.jpg)  vs  (http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/basketball/nba/players/4473.jpg)
Ray Allen vs Jerryd Bayless
Bayless gives up a couple inches to Ray, but he has the speed to stay with Ray as he runs through screens trying to get open.  Ray has been shooting the ball well since his return and if Bayless leaves him open, hopefully Ray can make him pay.

(http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/basketball/nba/players/3253.jpg)  vs  (http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/basketball/nba/players/4614.jpg)
Paul Pierce vs DeMar DeRozan
DeRozan has been one of the bright spots for the Raptors and has been playing well.  Pierce came up limping in the 4th quarter of the Cavs game but he seemed to shake it off.  Hopefully he will be ok for this game. The Celtics win streak coincided with Pierce's return to playing well.  The Celtics need his versatility and ability to give the team whatever it needs on any given night.

Honorable Mention
Benches
With both teams playing back to back, their benches will be important in this game.  The deeper team whose bench contributes will be the team that comes out on top.

Keys to the Game
Rebound -  The Celtics have got to crash the boards to prevent second chance points.  They out rebounded their opponents during their win streak However, they were out rebounded in both of their games vs Cleveland.  Being out-rebounded 39-28 in the second game almost led to a second lost lead loss in a row.  The effort they put out on the boards will usually spread to other areas of the game.  The team that wins the rebounding battle more times than not will win the game.

Take Care of the Ball - The Celtics tend to turn the ball over way too much at times.  They will make a run in a game to tie it or take the lead and then they will turn the ball over several times only to dig themselves into a hole.  They have to make smarter passes and pay attention to the opponents so as not to allow them to get an easy steal.  They also have to handle the ball better and not drive into a crowd only to lose possession of the ball.

Defense -  The Celtics must make defense a priority in each and every game.  Their defense was excellent in beating the Magic and Pacers recently and then they lapsed into  lax defense against the Cavs.  They played great defense while building a 21 point lead in the second game but let up on defense and allowed the Cavs to come back to within 2.     They must play strong defense all game.  With the Raptors, they must particularly guard the perimeter as they love to shoot from beyond the arc.

Make Shots and Take Advantage of Opportunities -  There are times when it seems as though no one on the Celtics can hit the broad side of a barn.  They miss jumpers, layups, 3 pointers, and shots in the paint.    This inability to hit shots keeps them from taking advantage of opportunities.

Hustle and Effort
The Celtics were out-hustled in both games against the Cavs.  The Cavs beat them to loose balls, to rebounds and in hustling on defense in the 4th quarter.   The Celtics need to show effort and hustle for 4 quarters, no matter the opponent.  They can't take any opponent for granted.

Game Notes
This is the 4th meeting this season between these two division foes. The Celtics won both preseason games between then and also beat them 96-73 in their first regular season meeting.  The Raptors haven't won in Boston since 2008 (7 games).   The Celtics have clawed their way back to .500 and could have a winning record for the first time this season with a win here.

This is another team that could present a trap for the Celtics.  If they get too over confident as they did against the Cavs and let up on effort at any time during the game, they could very well be surprised.   They have to treat every opponent, regardless of record, as a serious foe and play them tough from start to finish.

Both teams are playing in the second of back to back games and both teams had to travel the night before.  The Raptors played the Hawks at home on Tuesday night and the Celtics played the Cavs in Cleveland.  The Raptors are 5-9 on the road and the Celtics are 6-6 at home.

Doc has said that Rondo could be back for this game or more likely for Friday's game against the Knicks.  We've heard this one before and I'm not counting him in until I see him on the court or hear Doc say he's definitely playing.

X-Factors

Focus and Desire
The Celtics lost focus against the Cavs and allowed them to score 12 straight points down the stretch of their loss to them at home. They then gave up a 21 point lead to just barely win by 3 on the road.   They must keep their focus and play good basketball for 48 minutes, even against the teams with the worst records.   If they want this win badly enough, and don't self destruct,  they should be able to get it.

Back to .500. Starting over fresh, like its 0-0. Let's get back over .500!

And how fitting it is that the Raptors are going to be our stepping stone. The Generals to our Globetrotters.

Agreed now hopefully with Rondo back within the next couple games and on after we can finally see what we're made of. I know everybody's throwing this team under the bus but watch them prove everybody wrong. Rondo is instant energy and more fuel for everybody at the end of games, he obviously breaks down the defense and make things easier on our big three. I'm amped to see what we're looking like as a unit.

Bradley's pressure should work well against Calderon, who has been known as a turnover machine.

I thought that about Cleveland too. I can't believe this team has one 7 games. What a terrible collection of talent.

Awesome defensive quarter spurred on by Bradley forcing Calderon farther and farther out towards half court to start the offense and the bigs really doing their jobs underneath creating a one and done atmosphere for Toronto.

That's it in a nutshell for this game.

I think every team that plays us just wants to be within shouting distance by the last quarter. Everyone thinks they can beat us in the 4th.

I think doc's trying to get some rest for the starters and as long as we maintain an 8+ point lead, i'm not too worried about the bench playing some minutes

I guess this year with all the games congested together we are going to have to get used to strange lineups and players who should be in expanding leads sitting to get some long term rest.

True, I think the best way to go about it though is by limiting Pierce and Ray's time on the floor together to better balance the units.

I think he does considering what he had available for resources.  The only player I could see being debatable is Dooling over Delonte but to me that's not a huge difference.

nice fast break by Ray.  don't see that very often
He did in last game as well, I think.

Anyway, announcers disagree: Ray can put the ball on the floor, pass the ball, and lock anyone down "whenever he wants to".

... lol

Problem with him is that his jumpshot is fairly flat but I'd put him in the corner and see how he does. Could be interesting dynamic, spreading the floor.

C's shooting 62% first half, I hope they can maintain the lead so we can see some JJJ.

Also, I love how Doc is utilizing Bradley in offense. Backdoor cuts got him 2-3 easy layups.

Leave the streakin' to the Heat, let's get us the underdog role once more, I kinda liked it. Make it to the playoffs in a decent seed, knock off someone in the first round in an unremarkable way, and then: BAM. Banner.

I'm going to continue whinging about the announcers: can they please talk about what's happening on the court, or perhaps give some background on certain players and what they're doing at the moment? You know, something that relates to the game.

Everyone knows that the C's have the most retired numbers. EVERYONE. If you don't know, you shouldn't be watching basketball at all.

Avery shooting a respectable 4-5 tonight.

He's having a good game, but he's not actually "shooting".  He's getting his points on breaks, when other players drive, get doubled, and he's left open in the lane. Not sure if he's actually hit a jumpshot yet this game.  Great D tho.

Question: What part of this game make you happier, the 77 part or the 44 part?

Question 2: Which is more impressive?

I think the 44 is more impressive because the defense has been that dang good and the 77 makes me happier because the Raps are actually a fairly good defensive team and the C's have struggled all year on offense.

Gotta love the fact that on the second night of a back to back none of the starters will play 26 minutes and yet the C's will win both games.

I like that I'm starting to see some clear separation between the Celtics and the dregs of the league and that it is being done while the C's best player is hurt.

When Rondo comes back I think you start seeing some big wins against some very good teams in this league.

I love how KG is always cheering guys on, even in garbage time.

Its good to see him be able to cheer guys on in garbage time...and not huffing and puffng up and down the court with the team clinging to a 2 point lead.

This is the result when you put teams away early. I think he only played 17 mins tonight.

JJJ is listed at 221 pounds. You can't play defense at the 5 at that weight. I think he deserves some minutes, but he plays a position that our best bench player plays. He'll get his turn.

Added bonus to root for the Bucks: I believe we own the Bucks 2nd rounder this year if they finish out of the lottery (44 protected).  We lose the pick forever if we don't get it this year.  There could be some value in pick 45 -- which is where they are now.

Johnson looked sharp in garbage time.  I think he was very happy to get some playing time.  He will probably not be dressing once they pare down the rooster.  I wish we used him more but that is not going to happen with Doc.  He should be an asset once he outs on 15 lbs or so.  He is athletic and active.  I liked what I saw.

I think Kentucky could beat the Raptors perhaps.
