Game Notes
This is the 3rd of 4 meetings between these division rivals this season.  The Celtics won both of the meetings so far but both games were before both teams had an upheaval at the trade deadline.   The Celtics have been struggling somewhat to regain their chemistry after the trades but the Knicks have struggled even more.   The Knicks are just 7-8 since the trade and that has elicited complaints from Anthony about not getting enough touches and shots as well as complaints about the Knicks defense being too difficult for him to learn.

This game has playoff implications for both teams.   The Celtics are once again tied with the Bulls for the top spot in the East.  With the Bulls playing the Kings at home, the Celtics need a win in this game to keep pace.  The Knicks are in the 7th spot and half a game behind Philly for the 6th seed.

The Celtics are 6-4 in their last 10 games and are coming off a big come back win against the Hornets.  The Knicks are 4-6 in their last 10 games and have lost 2 in a row against Detroit and Milwaukee.  The Knicks have also lost 5 of their last 6 games.  The Celtics have had a day off while the Knicks are playing in the second of back to back games.   The Knicks have had more success in back to back games than the Celtics and are 9-8 in the second game and 4-2 at home in an away-home set.

With both teams struggling in recent games, it will be a matter of which team wants this one more and can regroup and focus on playing their game to get the win.  The Celtics showed signs of doing just that in the second half of their last game while the Knicks are still struggling.  But a big game against a rival has a way of bringing out the best in players and teams.

Key Matchups
(http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/media/act_paul_pierce.jpg)vs(http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/media/act_carmelo_anthony.jpg)
Paul Pierce vs Carmelo Anthony
Pierce has called Melo his toughest matchup in the league.  This will be Pierce's first look at Anthony as a Knick.  Anthony has career averages of 24.1 points and 6.7 rebounds in 13 games against the Celtics. Paul Pierce is averaging 28.5 points and 12 rebounds against Melo.  Since the trade the Knicks are 7-8 and Melo has complained about his lack of shots and the Knicks' confusing defensive schemes.  On the other side, Pierce has been struggling in his last couple of games.   In his last two games he is 3-19 from the field and 1-10 from beyond the arc.  He is due for a big game and a matchup against Melo may be just what he needs to have one.

Kevin Garnett vs Amar'e Stoudemire
KG has been one of the few Celtics playing well consistently over their last stretch of games.  Stoudemire is averaging 33 points on .590 shooting and nine rebounds over 39.1 minutes in two meetings with the Celtics this season.   KG has 22 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games against New York.    Amar'e is definitely going to challenge KG on both ends of the court and hopefully KG will be up to the task of keeping Amar'e from putting up big numbers on the offensive end and also getting his shot off against Stoudemire's defense.

Honorable Mention
Rajon Rondo vs Chauncey Billups
It is still true that as Rondo goes, so go the Celtics.  Rondo showed some signs of breaking out of his slump in the last game.  Hopefully re-injuring his finger won't set him back and he will continue to break out in this game.  Billups has lost a step or two in recent years but he is still a danger to hit big shots and Rondo will need to play tough defense on him.  Rondo should get the better of this matchup if he plays even close to his potential.

Keys to the Game
Defense -  This will be the classic battle between offense vs defense.  The Celtics must keep their defensive intensity throughout the entire game.  They especially must guard the perimeter where the Knicks are a very good 3 point shooting team.   But they also have to depend the paint where the Knicks are also very strong at driving and posting up.

Take it to the Hoop
- The Celtics are best when they take the ball to the basket and either get the score or the foul or kick the ball out for an open shot.    Lately they have been settling for a lot of outside shots and abandoning their inside game.   Good things happen when they are aggressive and taking the ball inside.

Rebound- The Celtics have to crash the boards in order to limit the Knicks second chance points and fast break opportunities.  The team that wins the rebounding battle will usually win the war because the effort they put out on the glass also affects the other areas of their game.

Move the Ball
When the Celtics move the ball, make the extra pass and find the open man, they are tough to beat.  It's when players hold the ball and try to do too much on their own that the offense struggles.

X-Factors
Focus and Effort
The Celtics have put out a few lackluster performances lately and they can't afford to come out with a lack of focus and effort in this game or the Knicks will take advantage of it.   On the other side of it the Knicks have lost 2 in a row and will be focused to avoid a 3 game losing streak.  The Celtics need to be sure they are just as focused on getting the win.

If our offense struggles against the Knicks I think its official that we are coasting.

Jeff Green will be big in this game. Krstic has an advantage at the center spot also.

If we can defend decently and keep them off the three point line we should win.

Absolutely no reason to have any offensive struggle this game.

Let's hope the starter's will "Do the Right Thing" and we see a spike in Mr. Lee's blood pressure after we give those Knickerbockers a Celtics style beat down.

Knicks are reeling. This SHOULD be a easy win. I'm looking forward to the Amar'e/KG matchup.

I would not be surprised to see The Captain have a big game. He seems to thrive in MSG.

I hope Anthony gets as many touches as he wants, and Paul Pierce owns him in every possession. Then people will see how obnoxious Carmelo is. I hate the new look Knicks!

Last time the Captain had a really bad night (0-10 in Heat Game) he came back the next game and dominated. I hope he'll pull a repeat tomorrow night.

Welp, the Celtics have allowed less than 90 points in 6 of the less 8 games. I'd love to see that kept up against a high-octane offense like the Knicks, and maybe actually score on their defense.

That will be the only negative thing I say for the entire game thread, but I wont be surprised if the Knicks win this game and the internet is buzzing about how much better the "Knicks defense" is. When in reality they dont play any.

Official Report
Monty McCutchen
McCutchen has been officiating games since 1993 and wears number 13. McCutchen missed the 1998-99 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. He is a former elementary and middle school teacher and is fondly remembered by his students as a really nice guy. In searching for information on him, I found a Cavs' blog that blamed their April 4 loss to the Celtics last season on the officiating of Monty McCutchen. That was the game where Mike Brown was ejected and the Cavs made a furious comeback but fell short. Other than that, there's not a lot of controversy about McCutchen. The Celtics are 2-0 this season and 7-3 in their last 10 games with McCutchen on the court. In the win over Indiana, the free throws were even but in the win over Miami, McCutchen and company gave the Heat 41 free throws to just 25 for the Celtics. The Knicks are 2-1 this season and 4-6 in their last 10 games with McCutchen. His home W/L record this season is 29-25.

Eric Lewis
This is Lewis' sixth season as an NBA official. He has worked for the NBA-D league during 3 seasons, 2 seasons in the USBL, 8 years in the NCAA, and officiated in Florida high school for 8 years before making it to the NBA. The Celtics are 6-4 in their last 10 and 2-2 so far this season with Lewis as a ref. The free throw totals were fairly close in all 4 games with opponents taking 95 free throws and the Celtics taking 91 over the 4 games. The Knicks are 4-0 this season and 6-4 in their last 10 games with Lewis. His home W/L record this season is 30-24.

Sean Wright
Wright's first season in the league was 2005-06. Before he started his career in the NBA he spent 4 years in the officiating in the NBDL, and also officiating in college and high school level. Sean Wright is from New York City, which may or may not influence his calls in this game. The Celtics are 2-1 this season and 6-4 in their last 10 with Wright on the court. The loss this season was the game vs Chicago where the Bulls shot 35 free throws to 22 for the Celtics. At one point just after the half, Derrick Rose alone had almost doubled the Celtics free throws as a team. That performance elicited these comments from Bulls fans:

Quote
Book these refs for the playoffs please

Who hired these refs? Lets give them promotion after the game
Wow have never seen Rose draw so many fouls and get so many FTs.

Ron Garretson, Tommy Nunez, Sean Wright
    Best refs of all time.

    Best refs EVAR!!!

The Knicks are 3-0 this season and 3-7 in their last 10 games with Wright. His home W/L record is 36-19.

Here for the game! Pretty confident about his one, maybe I shouldn't be but I feel like whether we control Amar'e or not the Knicks won't be able to defend us so it should be an easy win. TP FL.

Here for the game also. No one should be expecting Rondo to have a big night here folks. The man is banged up serious with his knee, pinky and heel. Still fancy us to nab it though because they're off the tail end of a back-to-back.

Knicks need to move Amare Stoudemire to the center position and surround him with shooters to trouble the Celtics defense. They can handle him comfortably if he is at the PF position with Garnett covering him.

Knicks most effective lineup is probably Amare, Melo, Fields, Douglas and Billups.

It'll be interesting to see how much D'Antoni goes to the lineup ... or fails to go to that lineup.

The Celtics would have to go small to matchup against that group. Put Garnett at center (to keep him on Amare) and move Jeff Green into the lineup alongside Pierce, Ray and Rondo. Best to keep Pierce on Melo and use Green against Fields.

The Celtics should win that matchup due to their superiority in the backcourt if Rondo plays well. The Knicks should be able to keep it close and make a game of it though ... and possibly sneak a win if Rondo doesn't play well.

---------------------------------------------------

If the Knicks stay big with Turiaf or J.Jeffries, this will be an easy win for Boston.

Celtics can stay big with Krstic or BBD and play their normal or choose to go small with J.Green @ power forward and be very effective against that Knicks lineup. They can defend the Knicks well with Amare at PF + Melo at SF ... the Celtics should outplay them comfortably with those lineups.

Well sure, but that doesn't mean it's a good time to get in on the ground floor.

Should be a fun game, the Knicks play no D (Turiaf excluded).  Pierce or Green might go for 30.  Shut down the secondary players and let Amare and Melo get theirs, they'll be happy to oblige.

I expect the Knicks two high pwr offencive superstars to get about 65 points together, but it won't be enought to prevail. At least without a huge defensive job on our guys. Let em shoot and see if they can get their quotas , guard the paint and shut down the rest of the Knicks team.

Meanwhile, gotta get some stops.  The Knicks can make any D look bad in short stretches, but we should be able to clamp down over time.

KG got raked across the arms on that spin move layup.  Should have been and-one, even Turiaf looked at the ref expecting it be a three-point play.  KG flipped a hard bounce pass back to the ref to let him know his discontent with the lack of a call.

Its simple math.. the Celtics are the best shooting team (around 50%), and Davis shoots jumpers at 36.5%.  A Davis jumper, when there are other options, is a subpar play.  Why do they keep going to that?!

Rondo looks better than normal, but I hope the Celtics keep attacking the hoop and drawing fouls.

yea, they went from the Pierce jumper at the end of quarters to the Rondo jumper. A bit of a downgrade imo. I think it's just that whatever play they run always breaks down so Rondo has to take the shot.

I thought this team was supposedly "mentally tough"

I could care less about the 18 points and 10RB he grabs. A center has to protect the key area from measly guards running through and looking like mini jordans. Kristic is epic fail for all things championship related.

Might want to slow the hyperbole for West. That was six minutes of absolutely unacceptably bad PG play from him, along with crappy defense from Green and Davis, etc.

I don't think that West is in the discussion as the best backup point in the game. Not close.

What's up with all the negativity guys? A game or a couple of games doesn't mean anything for our playoff hopes.

And as for the game in itself it's far from over, we'are actually cutting in the Knicks lead. Just have to get to 10 points or lower before the half and then play better in the 2nd half. I'm confident we will make a comeback and win, especially since the refs will (in theory) start to reverse their calls in our favor in the 2nd half.

The only way this team is winning a title or getting out of the east is if both Shaq and Jermaine come back healthy and can contribute. Both are 7 foot bruisers, something we dont have right now. Our interior defense has to be the worst in the league right now.

Shaq AND JO or Bust.

Krstic needs to be on the inactive list come playoff time, hes the worst defensive player ive ever seen.

Our defense was built inside out.  Without an inside presence, the guys on the perimeter have to play tighter, and can't gamble as much to cause turnovers (which is one of the keys to our D).

Without a big man who can defend -- or, at least in the case of Shaq, fill up the paint -- our defense is sunk.

Since the trade we are worse on offense and worse on defense.

Shaq and JO need to suit up and play in one game, so we can see what its like to actually have a big body that knows how to protect the rim.

Moreover I would understand if we were getting torched by 20 points or more but we're down 14 at halftime against a Knicks team that played out of its mind defensively for one half, will get tired legs because of the back to back in the 2nd half, and we always play better in the 2nd half. Not worried, not to mention that 10 or 15 point leads mean nothing in the NBA, especially with the Knicks.

Yeah that little fiasco shouldn't have been a surprise.

When you field a lineup that has ZERO shotblockers in the NBA, it's toast. it's gonna get lit up, period. A krstic - BBD lineup is like the anti-rebounding/shotblocking lineup; the perimeter could be manned by michael jordan clones and it would still get lit up.

As far as the offense was concerned, well, Ray Allen was the only (typically) efficient player out there, and he went cold as ice. Look at BBD and Krstic's and Jeff Green's career TS%'s (they were taking the majority of shots, other than Ray). Again NOT SURPRISING.

Tossing Perk and Semih didn't help our team.

At the beginning of the season...all the way up to the all star break...on every message board, every basketball related website, every basketball article it was all "Who Would Possibly Be Able to Beat the Celtics for the NBA Championship?" We were a complete team. Unified. Tough. Scary. We were one. Even with some players out with injuries we were whole. No one could touch us and everyone knew it.

That sentiment is gone...now people are either laughing at us for making silly knee jerk trades or feeling sorry for us for Danny's stupidity.

Seriously, that's part of the psychology.

Well, when the team is playing like this, there's not a lot of reason for optimism.

You can rationalize -- we flipped the switch last year, the team is banged up and is missing players, etc. -- but the play on the floor stinks.  Fans in the game thread are reacting to that.

I don't think most fans are negative because they want to say they expected it, or to let themselves down.  Rather, a lot of the negativity comes from frustration and/or anger and/or disappointment.

If fans were uniformly negative in here -- which was often the case last year -- I'd be agreeing with you guys.  However, this year *most* members have only gotten negative when the team has played like absolute crap.  When the team turns it around -- like in the Hornets game -- the fans are quick to cheer them on, rather than adopting a "Debbie Downer" attitude.

I believe it. Melo plays when he wants to and he obviously disappeared last night. He has fresh legs for tonight's game.

Seriously, that's part of the psychology.

I absolutely refuse to lay this defensive funk on the lack of Perk.

Perk played in 12 games for this team this year.  We were a top defensive team before he returned.  No Shaq, No Perk, No JO is why we are weak in the middle right now.  2 of those 3 will return.  Shaq/Krstic/Baby will be fine for the playoffs -- even if JO gives us nothing.

Let's at least let this game play out before drawing the same ugly conclusions folks were ready to draw at half-time on Saturday.

Rondo and West both had great interior passing, but the finishing was the problem (i.e. Davis getting blocked).

I saw one good finish that Krystic had, but he had some terrible defensive plays. We need our other bigs back.

Green still cannot play defense. He gives his man too much space. So much potential, so little aggressiveness.

Ainge, Shaq, JO, Krstic and The refs.

lol TP.

Although Shaq could actually be our savior. If he plays like 36 minutes a game.

I was jk...We need Shaq and JO to make any sort of respectable playoffs run...and if we don't get them back and have to play Krstic as our starting 5..then we could very well be looking at a second round exit...if that happens, Ainge and Krstic will be blamed.

as for the negativity train, it's valid to an extent. this effort extends beyond one game. i choose to remain positive but even with that Hornets win, we won ugly. if we win this game, we'll win ugly as well. we're playing ugly. remember when we went on that... what was it, 18 game win streak or something last season? You're also correct that the potential return of Shaq and/or JO could be huge for this team in the playoffs.

However, none of that changes the fact that Krstic is horrific at defending against penetration.  Like, Mikki Moore wearing cement shoes bad.

You just defined the offensive problems in a nutshell. The PG play tonight - from all three - has been nothing short of atrocious. Rondo still isn't executing at the position, at all, in addition to the fact he's not defending.

When the ball starts moving from side to side again - or if, as I see no indication that this issue is moving toward a resolution - the points will come.

As will the defense when all five players start playing it with their feet, rather than their hands.

Simple issues, quite resolvable by this group - if they're smart enough.

We've given up less than 90 points in 6 of our last 8 games. Defense hasn't been our problem lately, although the 1st half wasn't a very encouraging sign for our defense at all.

Everyone saying how the Celtics traded away their title by trading Perk....we were on auto pilot last season around this time WITH Perk, and we seemed to be giving up more points than this around that time.

We missed easy shots. Even Tanguay and Donny noticed that at the halftime show. Those have to go in this 2nd half.

And maybe, like in the Hornets game, they can step up their defense this 2nd half.

Game's not over, championship aspirations NOT OVER.

IMO, the C's don't have a best player. Our best player could be anyone on any given night.

Perk was special because he was part of that 5 who had electrifying chemistry. The guys on the court have none and its painfully obvious.

Chuckle. I don't agree. At all.

This team is old. And it's transitioning new players into a very complex system. It takes some time.

Oh we're definitely playing poorly, I didn't mention it because it's obvious. But to me there is a difference between playing really poorly (like against the Rockets, without effort or hunger) and "okay" (not the good word but you get the idea) poorly (like right now) which means, in the second, case that you can get back in the game by only turning it up a notch and playing smarter (like in the case of 14 point deficit) while in the first case you have to turn it up a big notch and get mentally back in the game which is really tougher (a 20 point lead). The difference between a 14 point deficit and a 20 point is huge in the minds of players.

I mostly agree; I like Green long term but I'm not sold on what he's going to give us in the playoffs yet.  He's inconsistent and isn't moving the ball or defending particularly well (especially tonight).  He does have that passive body language like Quis did, too.

I agree with Drucci, let them turn it around in 2nd half. They are more than capable of doing that.

The Celtics are playing a bad game on defense, and that leads to a lot of half court sets. Rondo and West are playing injured/out of injuries, and the ball movement is not there. The Big 3 is not having a good night either, and BBD is not shooting well. When defense improves in the 2nd half, they will score easier.

Go Celtics!!! Beat the NY Bricks!!!

You can rationalize -- we flipped the switch last year, the team is banged up and is missing players, etc. -- but the play on the floor stinks.

Completely agree.  The play on the floor stinks, and has stunk, for a few weeks.  And I hate the idea of "flipping the switch" as if its something easy to do (just like I hate the idea that "all Rondo needs to do is add a jumper in the offseason, as if that is something really easy to do that's just been an oversight on his part).

Where I disagree is that all of the "fault" with the team right now lies with Danny's trade (or two trades).  I can understand lashing out at someone in frustration, and Danny's an easy target.

But there's a lot of stuff that factors into the poor play, and the trades are just one of many (others include injuries to Shaq, JO, West, Rondo, Wafer) and poor play by some really old guys.  To say the poor play is because we lost Perk and he was the heart and sole of this team is a cop-out.  He was a good Center, I miss him, but he was not the heart and sole of this team.

The only contender that I've seen take it up a notch is Lakers, possibly Chicago.

Dallas and Miami are both 5-5 in their last 10 games and San Antonio has pretty much been consistent all year.

But we have been getting worse, there's no denying that.

Who exactly "abused" Perk last night?  Bargnani was 7-for-18, and Amir Johnson was 2-for-5.  That's 39%, and Calderon certainly wasn't beating the Thunder on penetration (1-for-7).  Perk rebounded Toronto's starting big men by himself.

I mean, I'm not sure that it's fair to accuse fans in here of exaggerating, when you talk about the "abuse" Perk suffered last night in a strong defensive effort.

If you want to see "abuse", watch Krstic try to cut off penetration.

How is that not a foul on Ray? Jeffries clearly hit him in the head. Ridiculous, I thought the officiating would "even out" NBA style in the 2nd half but it only got more biased in favor of the Knicks. The Knicks p---ed Ray with this bleeding though, he will probably make them pay in the 4th quarter.

It would be nice if his return is like Pierce's return from injury vs. the Lakers.... so long as Allen's return sparks the Cs to go on a tear not just rest of game but rest of season!

Agreed.

Please pass that ball around to any of the better jump shot options we have. that is a -5 points on Rondo. Billups makes 3. He goes down and make a jumper with 3 sec to go. Melo makes 2 point and we go down to another Rondo jumper. In fact mathematicaly that is a -7 on Rondo. Let go boy.

Win or lose, this is why I love this team.

And this is why the Knicks won't be contenders anytime soon.  Times get tough we bear down and get more intense, they smirk and whine to the refs with the ball in play.

I'll own up to being doubtful at halftime, but they really got their act together in the 3rd and crushed the Knicks in the 4th.

Also, no composure from the Knicks at all.  Their offense turned to garbage, Melo and Amare pouting like crazy (exactly what does Amare need to do to get a tech?), and Billups jacking crazy threes. Not impressive from the little bockers.

Well, that proves it.

Celtics have an on and off switch that they press during the game.

They played CELTICS basketball in the 4th quarter but stunk it up for the first three.

Rondo played well tonight with the exception for a few bad shots. He's finally utilizing the one of the best assets of his game: penetrating.
yeah, the shots were only bad cause they didn't go in. He took two threes tonight (one for sure to beat the clock), but if you take those out he shot 50% tonight. The shots we weren't crazy about made sense at the time because nobody was moving on offense. they were just standing around...

YES.  What a game!  All hustle in the 4th quarter and I LOVED seeing Pierce get in that zone, especially after he hit the 3 and was right up Carmelo's face with his defense.  The captain brought us back here in the 4th.

All the credit goes to the Celtics but I've got to give the Knicks props for making this game.  Billups was just brutal tonight from 3 pt land.

This probably will be a huge subject for tomorrow here at the forums, Rondo's shooting.  But tonight I'm going to enjoy this win.  8)

Agreed, they did lose their composure.  They basically watched the Cs steal the game from them the last 3 minutes.  Its as if Melo hit the floor with a bloody eye, there wasn't a foul called, and the Knicks just couldn't believe it. It totally deflated them.

agreed. they have the most fair commentators in the league. Portland and Phoenix are the worst, imo.

Could not avoid dropping by to take my bows. Called that one, didn't I?

Big ups to the Ticket, who shut Amare down with an assist from Davis. The anchor inside of this team's defense has always been Garnett, and he was huge in the second half.

Big ups to Pierce, who took the game over offensively in the key spots. And Rondo showed some flashes of his old self in the second half amidst some of the most head-scratching play possible. I hope to live long enough to see him take the basketball to the defense and break it down instead of launching a 15-footer he isn't going to make.

As I said at the half, move the ball, play defense with your feet and this thing will turn around. It did.

Now, let's build off a simple formula going forward.

Simple answer most of the night with West. He was a ball-stopper, wasn't moving the basketball at all. In the first half, neither were Rondo or Arroyo.

I think the C's have held teams to under 35 in the second half the last 3 games.

Not to mention the Celtics limited ANOTHER team to under 90 points for the game, pretty impressive after allowing the Knicks to score 51 in the 1st half. Jeez.

Still, that's 7 games in the last 9 where the Celtics have allowed less than 90 points. What started off as a fluke is SLOWWWWWWWLYYY becoming a trend. A good trend. And it's turning into wins.

Hopefully it carries over to the playoffs, no matter who we face...as well as that 2nd half play. Heck, why can't they carry over THAT to the 1st half?  :)

it's like in the playoffs a few years back when we had one of the biggest comebacks in history and the next game we were down by double digits as well and the commentators said: "the celtics have them right where they want them." We then made a huge run but I remember we lost.

I think you can get away with running and gunning if you have a defense anchor. Like if you added a healthy Greg Oden to that team or a Dwight Howard who started the break and anchored the half court set. Let's not forget that he's gotten to the west finals with his style.. which is farther than a lot of coaches.

I know the media loves to say how tough Kobe is, but I think they need to reconsider Rajon for that title now.

Man is playing hurt....and comes up big tonight on maybe the grandest stage - New York!!

Man plays well vs one of the all-time greats in Chauncey, too. I was a little concerned with the PG matchup in this game, but Rondo did not disappoint!

Way to go C's!! Way to play tough Rondo!!

It's the responsibility of the point guard to be active with the basketball, as much as the movement away from the basketball, which wasn't great in the first half. None were at all, including West, in the first half. Rondo did a better job of that - but not great - in the second half. It remains the most maddening element of this team's game to watch Rondo and the points just "fiddle and diddle" with the basketball when it's so obvious that this offense thrives on dribble penetration.

It's elementary, and we've done nowhere near enough of it in the last couple of weeks.

It's annoying this game wasn't on League Pass. I'd love to watch that dagger Pierce hit to put the C's up 6 four or five more times.

Also, underrated: KG's 18 footer to beat the shot clock with about 2 minutes to go.

Great finish to an ugly game.  I was standing up cheering the entire 4th quarter.  I think this could be a bit of a galvanizing win for the Celtics, but then again it could also be attributed to the Knicks/Carmelo.

Nice come-back win ... we held the Knicks to 18 pts in the third, and 17 pts in the fourth. We shot FG's at 46% to their 41%, (not great for either team), we sucked from beyond the arc, (1 of 10 to their 7 of 22), but out-rebounded them considerably, (a great sign), and had a ton of steals.

We looked very half-hearted in the first half, but came out after the break with a bit more juice, and dug in defensively, creating some nice fast-break points at the other end. I think the "Celtics suck" chants worked completely opposite to what the fans intended, and the C's took motivation from it.

Absolutely loved the shot of Ray's mom consoling Spike Lee ... that kind of summed it up for me. ;)

Great win, Boys ... they're gelling again and becoming more of that cohesive unit we've been waiting for ... Big Baby's energy the other night was really the turning point, and I think we're in for a win-streak and the smoothing over of the new members' transition to this team.

Go Celtics!
