TP, FL. Lasme, M. West and Gallon have been waived. Should JO be part of the bench mob?
I personally am willing to assume that JO will start, for now.We can't make the game wait for you, Tai, but we (in chat) can wait for you....the second half of the game is more fun anyway.
Either than that, a TP to FL, and sadly I will miss the start of this game due to...wait for it..NIGHT CLASS! :'( And I'll probably miss many more beginnings of games due to that, now that I think of it...
None the less, the season is beginning, and I'm kinda looking forward to it.

Assuming all three stars play, it'll be interesting to see how they work together. To me, the most overlooked reason as to why our Big Three have worked together is how well their games compliment each other. Due to their differing skillsets and all three's ability to hit the open jumper, they've managed to be effective without negating or repeating aspects of each player's game.
I'm not so sure the Heat have that.
Yes, having three superstars on the court will make it harder for teams to guard them and will conserve each other's energy; however, if all they're going to do is run isos for each of the three superstars, they're largely negating the benefit of having three superstars out there.
And that's not even getting into the whole aspect of whether the three can share the spotlight and the ball.
Certainly Miami could be quite scary and quite good. But they could also be a younger version of the late-'90s Rockets, a team that not only was too old, but also had three superstars (first Hakeem, Barkley, and Drexler, then Pippen replacing Drexler) whose games didn't compliment each other. Having Hakeem in the post, just meant Barkley wasn't being effective there and meant Pippen turned into a jumpshoter, something he wasn't. The same could happen in Miami where LeBron (or Wade's) ball domination could turn Wade and Bosh into jumpshooters, which certainly isn't either's forte.
I get back from school at about 8:45PM on Tuesdays. How depressing is that?

I feel for you...I have a class from 7-10 pm on Tuesdays....but I'm going to skip that one next week....a first one for me.

I usually work late on Tuesdays and Thursdays but I got Tuesday off, and the best, I get paid for it! Thank God for paid floating holidays. However, I would strongly suggest in acquiring a DVR machine if u haven't got one already. It really is a life saver as long as you don't check the score. Last season I would watch a game in 1.5 hours by skipping all the comercials. It was great!
97-92 Boston Takes it!Can you be more detailed like giving an entire box score? ;)

Is this game on CSNE as well as TNT? Because I have a feeling Tommy could explode when they call the first double technical.
Referees = Dan Crawford, Tony Brothers, Brian Forte
Free League Pass until Nov. 1:TP Thanks, I actually didn't know that.

(I don't know if anyone else posted this but figured I'd help my Celtic brethren out.)

While I certainly hope that the Celtics kick the crap out of the Heat, the fact of the matter is that is just game 1 of the regular season. Whether the C's win or lose and whether it's a blow out or not will likely matter very little when all is said and done. The C's could lose by 20 tonight and still win #18 and vice versa for the Heat.
That said, I'm still looking for some key things tonight as early barometers:
1) What is the state of our Big Three? It's not so much statistically how they do, it's how lively and young they look. Even if they're missing shots, are they still moving well and sticking with the Heat Big Three?
2) Can Rondo and Shaq abuse the wannabes that the Heat have at the 1 and 5?
3) Can Marquis Daniels effectively guard LeBron? That's not to say he stops him, but can he prove he can stick with bigger 3s?
4) How good is our bench? Can they ultimately be our wildcard as they either pound other benches or come in and run starting units into the ground with their energy?
Man I was Johnny was around to call this one tonight! He's calling the game for the Heavenly Broadcast System.

once erden and delonte can contribute...watch out...once perk comes back and boston has 4 7'0...then really watch out
I am so pumped for this game, opening day always reminds just how much I miss the C's.
Hey tnt,is boston even playing tonight?

Be ready for more of this...all the channels are going ga-ga over the Heat *pukes*
I think I hate Bosh more than I hate LeBron :-\
Two huge dunks from Shaq!
Fantastic atmosphere. A sense of importance to the game. Great way to start the season.
How good is Rondo? I'm so glad we got that kid.
Joel Anthony has done an uncharacteristically good job on the backboards early in the game.
Usually one of the worst rebounding centers in the league.
C'mon refs...
That no call on lebron's goal tend just broke our run. C'mon refs...They won't let this game be one sided.
C'mon refs...
Thats a technical foul on you. :D
Ray must think this is the NBA finals - brick city & some careless turnovers.
So.. How many FGs do we have without a Rondo assist? I guess that's both positive and negative, in some way.
Anyway.. 9 points from Miami in the first quarter. I honestly think they would've done better with only one of the 'other 3' in there!
With Miami being bad as they have been offensively ... I'd like to see a bigger lead in place. There we go, nice little 6 point swing. Up 8, Miami miss at the rim that could have cut the lead to six, then a Pierce fastbreak bucket and a a Marquis layup to push the lead up to 12. Nice separation.

Spoelstra is the least inspiring coach I've ever heard.
Just curious, why do we have to list Delonte on our 12 man roster if he's suspended? So we're only allowed to dress 11 players.. I don't get it.
Quis. Great soft pull up.
Spoelstra is the least inspiring coach I've ever heard.
Aww I got excited there for a second.. I thought we were gonna see some crazy Nate Robinson 360 between the legs windmill dunk.
how long before riley takes the heat over?

Ugh. I hadn't even thought about that connection.
No more talk of this "last year." This is this year, and right now, it's looking pretty good.
All in favor?

KG missed it but he really bounced for that putback attempt
Spoelstra needs to stop calling timeouts. Let his players figure it out.

Impressed by that put back attempt. Remembered a play in 08 ::)Gasol still has nightmares about it.

17 is simply too young to be an NBA head coach.

absolutely love what i have seen out of shaq and JO so far...esp on defense

lack of a big will keep miami from winning a title....halftime all about the heat....whatever...boston gets zero love
Wow @ new international league pass.
Absolutely incredible.
Also, worst time EVER to get a trojan that shuts down your browser... Watching in safe mode :)
Shaq 6 and 6 in less than 12 minutes.Glen Davis was very impressive. Especially defensively.
Baby played a really nice half.
Other than Bosh, Wade and Lebron, not ONE Miami Heat player would make the Celtics 12 man rotation or even 15 man roster.
Volume off.
I'm not surprised by Miami's 2nd half plan:
Run into the paint with the ball and jump into someone's body. LAME

and they foul Shaq again.. I love the Big Shamrock!

oh man this is an awesome game.
Rondo's passing has just been incredible...
Can't wait to see the BBM come back on

His Wii remote is broken.
I think Paul's hurt... freakin LeBron.
sigh...that sucks...BS call and PP hurt
sigh...that sucks...BS call and PP hurt
Okay, I gotta call BBD Glen Davis from now on after that move.
Glen Davis has played so well tonight. Just superb.
celtics Paul Pierce has bruised back. Expected to return.
- A Sherrod
Third quarter collapse starts when Pierce leaves the floor.Yeeh, up 13 with four minutes left when Pierce left the court.
**** LeBron.
Of course when my league pass starts bugging the HEat makes a big run... dang, I missed all the end of the quarter! What went wrong?!

Pierce left.
Nate is [peeing] me off today.
Captain for 3!!! Great play!
And it's very early, but so far the best big on this team is Glen Davis. He was getting stuffed on those close plays last season, but Miami doesn't have the size to do it. Our biggest advantage.

Shaq is got to be in the discussion. But it's true, Baby is playing great!
For the record, if the Heat hit a three out of the timeout, I'm gonna cry.

Haslem is rough..also a hacker...
CHEER MAMA ALLEN! CHEER ALL NIGHT LONG!
Should Jermaine O'Neal have been in there instead of Davis?Doc trust BBD more to draw charges I guess.
Have Jermaine defend Haslem and keep two shot blockers on the court.
Pat Riley just set an appointment with his tailor.
Just checked the box scores...wow, PP and Ray played 40 mins. Hopefully this changes when Delonte comes back.
Cleveland shouldn't present the same level of competition that Miami does. Daniels and Nate should hopefully see 48 minutes between them as long as they're playing well.Just checked the box scores...wow, PP and Ray played 40 mins. Hopefully this changes when Delonte comes back.
Don't mind that a bit in this game. But I hope Doc dials them back against Cleveland tomorrow.
liked what Daniels did tonight. Rest of the bench was so-so. BBD on the post is still not a good offensive option no matter how many times they go to itBig Baby was very good today and did almost everything right. I think he gets criticized way too much over here.
I hope Houston wins...Barkley looks good...!
Great game, folks. I am very excited for the season. Now to turn off TNT before having to subject myself to the Fakers' ring ceremony. Nite nite all!! :)

he got better as the game went but he's just not the option they should be using in the post. rarely results in a basket. when they initially tried to feed him the ball in the post, it didn't go so well. he played well at the end though -- very good effort on Dliked what Daniels did tonight. Their biggest enemy is really just themselves. Dial down that turnovers and their would be so many blow out games for us. :)if not blowouts, there'd certainly be a lot more wins by comfortable margins

Glen had a big impact tonight.
1 down, 97+ to go.
Shaq was decent and that's all I gotta say.
The Heat are new to one another, give it time but they will be the number one seed in the NBA and they will give Boston hell.
I sure hope they do because a chant of "overrated" during a season opener is completely stupid.
Good game, and aside from one bad call, I felt the refs did a solid job.
I'd like to see some more movement on offense - thought we got really stagnant in the second half, and we let them back in the game because of it. Having said that, the defense was very good in general and we dictated the pace from the tip to the final buzzer.
Didn't we beat the Cavs by a similar margin in last year's season opener? I could be wrong...but I thought it was an eight point win as well...
Is my tint off a bit or are the Rockets wearing orange?
Is my tint off a bit or are the Rockets wearing orange?
Maybe it's just Chase Budinger's hair.
Great game to be at. Really excellent, excited atmosphere. Oddly enough, I was supremely confident going into this game. I thought we'd win by double digits, easily. My prediction WAS looking spot on... until the Heat's star power showed a glimpse of what it could do.
I don't think this game was indicative of the Heat's future performance. I do, however, think it was indicative of Bosh's future performance. He was a non-factor scrub tonight, and I expect that to continue. He is a Mo Williams-caliber star masquerading as an All NBA 2nd-teamer, and he will show himself as such in Miami.

"Paul had his hands full, I had my hands full, Ray Allen had his hands full," Garnett said. "Those three are going to be a force to be reckoned with. We know that. But it’s not one, two, three individuals that make a team."

6 point actually.
