Title: Rules / size limitations regarding signatures and avatars
Post by: Roy Hobbs on August 23, 2009, 09:47:15 AM
We recently amended our rules to slightly increase the size of allowable signatures.  The new requirements are as follows:

Quote
Signatures:
  • May contain one image such as a banner, but ONLY if the image used is no larger than 500x134 pixels and 35KB in file size.
  • Must be setup in your Profile (link up the top, next to logout), and not manually added to your messages.
  • May not contain any pricing, sales, product, etc. details.
  • May contain a maximum of two smilies, or one animated smiley.
  • May include two clickable links, URL's or mailto:
  • Only exact URLs are allowed, i.e., not < a href="www.domain.com">LOOK HERE
  • May include up to two colors. Hyperlink color is set by the forum and is not counted as a color.
  • Maximum font size cannot be larger than normal.
  • Must be kept to a maximum of four lines (at 1024 resolution).
  • May not contain links to other threads or posts.  Linking to an outside website is only appropriate with the permission of the staff.
  • Your signature is your signature. It is not for sale or rent.
  • Signatures should not include lewd, sexual, violent, or offensive images.
  • Any signature that is offensive or insulting to the Celticsblog staff or members of the blog is prohibited.
  • We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your signature at any time, for any reason.

Avatars:
  • The maximum allowed size of an avatar is 80x80 pixels. The maximum file size is 20KB. Anything larger will be removed.
  • Avatars should not include lewd, sexual, violent, political or offensive images.
  • Any avatar that is offensive or insulting to the Celticsblog staff or members of the blog is prohibited.
  • We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your avatar at any time, for any reason.

The staff would ask your assistance in conforming your signatures and avatars to the above standards.

I tried the search feature but didn't find anything so I'm going to ask here.

Can someone explain to me exactly what I need to do in order to put a banner image in my signature like so many others here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Do you have a Photobucket account? If not, you should make one. Here's the link:

www.photobucket.com

When you've made the account, you can upload photos etc. from your computer to Photobucket. When you are done doing that, you can get a link code for whatever image you want from Photobucket and put it into your profile in the "Signature" thingy. All you need to do is copy/paste.
I am not a genius with computers but I hope that helps  :)
If not, maybe someone else could explain it to you.

Glad I could help. I like it. It's... well, different  ;) You can always resize it on your Photobucket account.
