Title: My favorite kung fu fight scenes (one versus many)
Post by: Prof. Clutch on July 25, 2009, 06:40:05 PM
A few of my favorite kung fu fight scenes of one person fighting many.  (there is some mild violence in all of the clips, but nothing to extreme.)

The name of the movie - The Protector.  I have to admit, the rest of the movie is almost complete garbage.  I could post many more scenes that are embarrasingly bad.  But this part is a pure masterpiece of martial arts cinema.  The logistics of this in terms of film making are mind boggling.  The shot is incredibly long, still captivating, and flawless.  If they made one mistake they would have to reset the whole set which would have taken a considerably long time considering how much they destroy during the scene.  I'm pretty sure they had to get it right on the first try:

This is just purely one of my favorite fight scenes ever.  It's not even close to the best fight scene in the movie.  But Jet Li is truly awesome.  Fists of Legend: (sorry for the english dubs)

Final one i'm gonna throw at you.  Not exactly kung fu, but pretty bad ass.  Name of the movie is Oldboy.  Really cool cinematography, very realistic and very funny in some parts.  Enjoy:

Just wanted to share these with you.  Feel free to post your own.

TP for starting the thread, Clutch. I'm by no means an expert, but as an HK film junkie this is definitely one of my favorite topics.

I love Jackie and Hwang Jang Lee as a pairing. Here's their finale from 1978's Drunken Master. Lee is probably my favorite villain for this time period; Invincible Armour is another one of his truly great performances.

I've unfortunately not seen the whole movie, but Yuen Biao is incredible in Righting Wrongs (aka Above the Law.) Watch for the completely insane spin kick around 1:36.

Of course, there can be no discussion of epic kung fu awesomeness without including the Venoms crew. What they were able to do in terms of scale is still incredible to this day. Here's the end fight from Masked Avengers.

Movie I saw recently, Ip Man, I recommend it for people that like martial arts movies.

This is probably the best fight of the movie, especially when you consider that the dude is a mild mannered guy.
